Go a bit ahead of the rush. We got there at 6:30 and there was a good crowd, but we were seated immediately. We had read where service was horrible in a couple of reviews, but we found it great. Food was very nice, as was our wine. I had ordered Rock Lobster tail, as I didn't want a full Maine lobster,. Also at recommendation of Charlie, our waiter, I ordered an add-on of Snow Crab legs (sweeter) than my usual Alaskan King. Crab was fantastic, but take your own scissors or ask kitchen to open them for you - the manager did that for me. Also, the Rock Lobster was very dry - I presumed over cooked. Manager says, maybe, but it is dry by nature and said he could switch out for a Maine tail (which is smaller, but I was OK w that). The Maine was fantastic. All in all, a delightful evening.
I came here with a couple of friends today -- with one being a Boiling Crab pro who knew exactly what and how to order. The table is covered by a large sheet of wax paper and food is placed directly on the plastic bag. I guess they save money by reducing usage of plates? For example, if you order shrimp, the food is brought to your table in bags. Everyone digs into the bag and grabs a shrimp. As the shrimp arrives in full form, you then proceed to rip of the head and peel away the shell. I think is so interesting . Generally, I like the food and the atmosphere except one thing... the wait. There is not a time when I've gone where I've had to wait no less than 30 minutes. The food is good, but 30 minutes feels like an eternity when you're starving and craving crawdads.
We discovered Blue Water Seafood in Willow Glen tonight. Great service and excellent fish and chips. We usually drive to Half Moon Bay for fish and chips - no more! Very friendly staff and the owner, Craig, came to our table to say hello. We also liked the pepper crab soup and the clam chowder. Save room for dessert because the salted caramel vanilla cake is delicious. Full bar and a giant rubber shark. Try it!
