Stay at this hotel if your only priorties are location and price. The hotel is conveniently located about 1-2 blocks from the Powell BART Station and Union Square. Although the price is very reasonable, you get what you pay for: the hotel is old, the rooms are small and the walls thin. The room we stayed in also had a funky ""animal fur"" odor (I think the hotel allows pets). Our friend who came by to visit asked ... view moreLike this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch

You better hope you don't have to communicate with this hotel. Needed to cancel a reservation about two weeks before my intended stay. Phoned and sent several e-mails trying to make the cancellation and none were answered! Thank goodness for credit card protection laws. Ruined what I wanted to be a great New Year's. Rooms are extremely small, not at all like pictured. Not romantic at all. Most of the staff was very friendly with exception to one individual who apparently is only nice if you show up as a gay couple.Like this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
In June 2002, we paid $89 for a very clean and cleverly decorated room. The front desk staff was friendly and the concierge always available and helpful. We enjoyed fresh doughnuts, croissants, muffins and coffee every morning. We enjoyed the convenience of being located right on the cable car line.Like this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
