Thanks to an employee named "Sam" I was humiliated because they decided to close early and he even got physical with me. He was very rude and obnoxious for no reason. I came to eat at 11:30pm. The hours posted on the door states they close at 1:00am, yet he decided to be very rude to me and say they were closed and proceeded to close the door on my face. I had been to this place many times before and never experienced this type of behavior. In fact, I have never been treated so badly in my life! I will be legally looking further into this matter. Please avoid giving this place any business. They do not value their customers!!!

Good food, great location

Harvey's is a great place to start an evening out in the Castro. The staff is usually very friendly and the drinks are good. The burgers are the best thing on the menu but the chicken sandwiches and salads are pretty good too.

If you happen to get their on a comedy night or drag show it can be crowded but lots of fun. And being right on the corner of Castro and 18th street means there is always lots of eyecandy walking by!

I was a regular for 15 years...not any more

I was cut off by the manager and the apparently dumb-as-nails waiter....before I even had one drink in the bar, or anywhere else. I had just got off work, met my partner at the bar, and ordered a drink. It never came, and when I inquired about it, was told I was cut off. How does one explain that??? The manager certainly did a piss-poor job or trying to explain himself. Appalling service....I have never been treated like that anywhere. They just wanted to turn the table, but wouldn't even admit to that. No thanks...not anymore. PS the food is terrible. But it has always been terrible, so no real revelation here.

I recently dined at Harvey's, which I have in the past, but this past time I did not have a good time. The menu offers plenty to eat, but when my friend ask our server about the Fish and Chips, he highly recommended them, saying ""the tartar sauce is home made here, I like the Fish and Chips"" ,my friend deceided to order them, but when they had arrived, he did not like them. The waiter had asked how they were, in response he was told they were to mushy, and the batter tasted too over done, at that point he told him he did not like them. Our waiter only said I am sorry, and did not even offer if he wanted anything else, or suggest that he would take it off the bill. PERHAPS THE WAITERS should be a little older , and experienced in these types of situations.

Hervey's gets more delicous

I can't seem to find a way to submit an event listing to citysearch for Harvey's so I'm leaving the info in this review of Harvey's where the fries are hot and so is the comedy. We are thrilled to be reviving gay comedy at Harvey's. Hosted by award winning comic Marga Gomez every Tuesday night beginning Feb 26th through April 29th.

I am Marga posting this so if I wasn't supposed to please let me know how to submit a listing.

great place for weekend brunch

Stopped in a couple of Sunday mornings ago and had a wonderful, leisurely brunch. Great music (but not too loud), casual atmosphere. The ""Harvey's Sliders"" (tiny burgers with curry sauce) are to die for! Service was great (they were moderately busy) and entertaining, bartender was very good and mixing strong Bloody Marys. Overall highly recommended during the day.

The cafe formerly known as the ""Gay Hard Rock Cafe""

Let's face it, Harvey's food will never be listed in the Michelin guide, and although I personally have never experienced bad service, there are obviously people who have. But I like this place and know a lot of other people who do too. The specialty drinks are a bit pricy ($9), but if you just want a cold beer and a good burger, big salad or a plate of wings, you won't be disappointed. The real reason to come here is the location at 18th/Castro, quite possibly the gayest intersection in the gayest neighborhood in the gayest city in the world. You can't pick a better spot to bring gay tourists on their first visit to our city. Park yourself at one of the window seats and watch the parade of gay humanity go by. I've also seen a couple of killer drag shows here too.

User review by wolfgangsf

Stumbled upon Harvey's on Halloween and saw the coolest drag/horror show EVER. MCs Cookie Dough and Peaches Christ rocked the place. Hats off to Harvey's for housing a fierce show in the Castro. I have been a fan a Harvey's and the Monster Show ever since.
