A Safe Bet for Brunch

Meh... overall not bad for food from a chain restaurant. All the Crepevines have the same menu... ""A"" for predictability and consistency, ""A"" for portion size, and ""B-"" for the actual food. I really like the balsamic dressing on the salad, but the side potatoes are mediocre. Crepevine is a safe bet, but there are definitely better brunch-ish type places out there.

Great service, very accomodating and nummy dessert!

The Tofu Scramble is delectable but I generally skip a healthy meal when I get there because I go straight for the sweets. It's all about the banana caramel dessert crepe!

When we go here, our party generally takes up 4+ tables and the service they've given us thus far has been great. Available parking in the area is something you just need to keep hoping for. I suggest carpooling if you're not within walking distance.

A good default place

Went here for dinner with friends, after getting brush-off from the Ti C*ouz hostess. Whatever. There are other crepes in this town. Anyway, the people were nice (no random attitude problems), the portions were huge and the veggie options were endless. We went here on a Sunday night and it just seemed really right for that kind of occassion. No complaints!

Light and Refreshing

Sometimes food can be over-powering, not the case here. I recently moved here from Sac and was devoted to Crepville in mid-town Sac. I went to Crepevine not realizing that the owners here are extended family to the one in Sac. Good for me because it meant that the crepes were just as good. I can't wait to go back, gotta try the burger and see if it's as good as the one in Sac.

It's not about the crepes

As others have said, the crepes aren't the best thing on their menu. Personlly, Crepevine is my favorite weekend brunch place of choice. I will miss this place if I move away from the Bay Area. I prefer dessert crepes over savory crepes, but I tend to think that dessert crepes should be of the hand held kind. Therefore, my favorite menu item is their Costa del Sol...their eggs benedict with spinach and ham. The hollandaise sauce serves me just right. The Costa del Sol makes all other benedicts bland in comparison. Their chicken club sandwich is also pretty good. For other brunchers, just go for one of the scrambles instead of the crepes. It's too bad they're named Crepevine and crepes aren't the best thing on their menu. It gets people off to a first impression although everything else is excellent.

good neighborhood breakfast place

This is my neighborhood weekend breakfast choice. The menu is standard crepe fare, no surprises. The food is fresh and well-prepared. The staff is friendly and there is always a table to sit at because it is a large, airy room and they have outdoor tables. I come to the restaurant often and have enjoyed everything I've eaten except the crabcakes which were greasy, and they tend to overcook the cooked salmon, although the lox are fine.

Standard Crepe Fare

SF loves crepes, more than prehaps any other city outside of France. Crepevine brings a nice selection of both sweet and savory (crepes with cheese, meat, etc) selections to the edge of the Castro. The crepes tend to be slightly crispy, not overcooked, but not light and fluffy. The desert selections are quite satisfying: try the strawberries and Nutella! Service is quick and there is plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your meal.

everything but the...

Funny, but at a place called Crepevine everything is good but the crepes. Soggy, fell apart after the first bite, and the taste isn't there. 3 times I have tried'em out and 3 times a bust. Bangkok chicken salad is the bomb, omlettes are creative and tasty, and they actually make good coffee-unusual for a restaurant that is actually a glorified diner with a California twist. Prices are good, service is average. Overall value.

Worst crepes in the city!!

This place sucks now! They are consistently serving bad crepes. I thought I'd give them another chance tonight, but again yuk!
The crepe came out soggy (as usual!) so I asked them to cook it a little more. What a mistake, it was just drenched in oil, the potatoes were old, oily and burnt. And the salad was unedible due to excess dressing on it! (as usual). The crepe was even missing one of the four ingredients.
AND THEY DON""T CARE!!!!
I will never go back.

mmm

I don't know what this other guy is talking about. The crepes are fabulous! Both savory and dessert crepes rock not to mention the sanwiches and salads. For under 10 bucks, you can get a huge crepe full of goodies like pesto, chicked, sauses, veggies, etc. and a side of potatoes. Dessert crepes are fantastic and served a la mode. The cherry blintz and nutella ones are so so heavenly. Small bustling place full of crepe goers, so don't expect a nice quiet dinner or lunch. But service is surprisingly good for the amout of people there. This place is fun and the food choices are mind boggling!
