I loved my stay at the Cornell Hotel de France. The staff was very nice. It was homey and beautiful with all the art on the walls: both hand painted and framed. The morning breakfast was my favorite - with the friendliest servers!!!. Fantastic and safe location. - Loved being blocks away from San Francisco landmarks. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back.Like this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for four nights. We had a room on the top floor (6th floor) on the Amedeo Modigliani themed floor. The room was spacious, especially by San Francisco standards. The bed exceeded our expectations and we always slept comfortably. We had visited about 14 years ago when we were dating and I thought that $85 was a steep price back then. But, it is well worth the $140 plus per ni... view moreLike this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
The location of the hotel was perfect; near the cable car & bus lines. The included breakfast was generous & the waitress was efficient & cheerful & the French music playing in the background was soothing. The old French elevator was fun to use. We felt the cost of our stay was very reasonable especially considering the location in San Francisco. We booked a medium sized room & would not have enjoyed a smaller room. ... view moreLike this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
This was our first trip to San Francisco and we had no idea where to stay. I found this hotel listed in Frommers, and read the reviews before making reservations. After spending four nights there, I cannot understand the negative comments. The rooms are smallish, as expected in a European style older hotel, but they were quaint and very clean. Both rooms we had (we stayed three nights, and then another before return... view moreLike this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
We stayed at this hotel this past summer and although the rooms were small, they were lovely and clean with an old world feel. The elevator is original to the building and the restaurant in the basement is probably one of the best kept secrets in San Francisco.Like this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
If you are used to modern have everything at your fingertips type of hotels, this might not be for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable, welcoming, European ambience, this place is for you! Rooms run a bit small, but are comfortable and clean. The elevator is probably the original one in this victorian building but is incredibly quiet. Breakfast is served every morning in their restaurant downstairs...we a... view moreLike this review?Yes|Flag AbuseProvided by Citysearch
