BOUDIN BAKERY SCAMS PEOPLE! I ordered a loaf of sourdough from them online for my mom?s birthday, and the bread was perfectly good. About two weeks later, though, a second charge from them appeared on my bank account for around $50. I had not been on the site since the original purchase, so I emailed them to fix the error. They replied that the second charge was for a bread of the month club membership, and since the first month had already shipped, I was stuck with the bill (even though I hadn?t ordered it). They became increasingly unfriendly and condescending as I continued to try to explain the situation to them, refusing to admit that they could have made an error. As of today I have submitted them to the Better Business Bureau, as well as to my bank for credit card fraud. You have been warned!

Boudin: Poor Cusomer Service

BACKGROUND: I ordered a delivery on Aug. 20, 2011 for my daughter who lives in NYC. The shipment was supposed to leave Boudin's on Tuesday, Aug. 23rd, but didn't leave until after 4 p.m. on Aug. 24th. The package didn't arrive to my daughter until after 2 p.m. on Aug. 26th, even though FEDEX said someone by the name of F.Finn signed for it in the morning. No one at my daughter's work is named F.Finn.

RESULT: The package of cable car breads, brie cheese, and dip arrived hot and the cheese reeked throughout the box. My daughter had to immediately throw out the the package minus the dip because of the bad smell and spoilage. Boudin's says it won't make the order good or refund our money. To add insult to injury, Boudin's customer service isn't open on Saturday's or Sunday's, but they sure take orders those days.

I won't shop online with Boudin's, again, and do not recommend this company to anyone who want a great product and customer service to match.

Amazing.

We were seated promptly, even though it was very busy. My husband and I split the hot salmon club, and we each got a petite clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Even though the service was a little slow (1/2 hour from when we were served the chowder until our sandwich appeared), the food was more than worth it.

Great Service - Great Food and Drink

My wife and I enjoyed a late lunch at Bistro Boudin. We were promptly greeted and seated at a table with a great view. The corn chowder and ceasar salad were fresh and flavorful. The bread is out of this world. Our server was polite and efficient. The mojitos were made with plenty of fresh mint and really took the edge off of a busy day. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Bistro Boudin is one of our favorite places in our favorite city.

Ouch! Morronic Chef!

I went to this restaurant over the weekend with my friends and girlfriend. The prices were too high for the quality of the food. When the chef came from the kitchen to greet a table next to ours and overheard my girlfriend complaint about the combination on her crabcakes. He went on the defensive by questioning her if she has much experience eating crabcakes...... THIS CHEF IS A MORRON! crappy service took the rest of the experience. Well that's what I get for eating on my Pier. I know better the next time.

Awesome clam chowder and yummy bread!

This was the second time I have been in SF and I was finally able to share this great city with my fiance. The wharf location provides a perfect escape during a fun day of sightseeing! The clam chowder and bread were amazing, we ate more than we could fit because we didn't want to leave anything! Despite the fact that this is a chain and in an area full of tourists, I highly recommend you add this stop for some yummy food, and excellent, attentive service!

We keep going back for the burger on fresh sourdough baguette. It is the BEST burger we have ever ha

This is the first review I've written about anything, and I do it now out of simple enthusiasm. The Boudin Bistro's burger on a fresh sourdough baguette is without question the BEST burger we have ever had -- anywhere. It's not a gobble down burger. It takes me about 20-25 minutes to eat one, enjoying ever bite. It makes a big lunch. So, we keep going back, and look forward to taking out-of-town friends with us. For us, lunch is the best time to be there. We usually get there before noon (11:00-11:45). The big surprise for me is that such a pleasant and comfortable place with good food exists in the heart of the Fisherman's Wharf tourist-trap area. I first went in for a quick order at the downstairs counter, read the sign directing to the bistro upstairs, went up there and made the discovery. As one can deduce, this is a strong recommendation.

The truth about Bistro Boudin...

My girlfriend and I are from Los Angeles and we went up to San Francisco for the day. We heard great things about the clam chowder at Boudin so we went upstairs to the main dining room restaurant to try it out. The host, an older man in his 50's, did not even greet us but rather pointed to the menu and said in a snobish tone, ""These are the prices. We are not priced the same as the cafe downstairs!"" I found this extremely rude. It was raining that day and we probably didn't look like the most distinguished people, but there is no need to judge someone based upon appearance, which is what we felt this man was doing. I understand we're from LA and that my spikey hair, vintage T-shirt, faded Diesel jeans with checkered Vans might seem like the wardrobe of a hobo, but in actuality, it cost more than this guy's $200 suit from the Men's Warehouse. Either way, we were so excited to eat here that we ignored the comment and asked the guy to seat us. He took us to the very back, bypassing several empty tables by the window. We asked to sit at one of those empty tables, and he said they were not available. I thanked him but told him we would be dining elsewhere. We walked downstairs to the Cafe ""express"" version. Got our clam chowder and had a wonderful lunch for half the price and none of the hassle. If you want to try this place go to the Cafe Boudin located downstairs. Same food with no rude service.

Surprisingly great food and exceptional servers

I was given a gift certificate to dine at Bistro Boudin and tried it out this evening with four friends. While all of us dine in SF regularly, we don't usually visit the Wharf. This will certainly change. The ambiance in the building is wonderful (floating baskets filled with bread, great views and lots of dark wood). The view of Alcatraz is not one that we see often and it was quite remarkable. We had the best crab cakes ever, thin crispy gourmet sourdough pizzas and tender, melt in your mouth filet mignon. My girlfriend loved the pistachio crusted halibut. 2 out of 4 desserts were great...we'll definitely make a trip to the wharf again to visit the Bistro. Service was outstanding and very personable.

worst experience ever

i went to dine at the boudin restaurant on a non busy afternoon and it was one of the most awful experiences i've ever had dinning in american. first of all, the hostess didn't take down my name and just asked me to wait for a few minutes while she took down other people's name. finally the waitress took me and my friend to some corner in the back while there were tables with comfortable seatings available. the chair was dirty with bread crumbs all over, the waitress stood and watched my friend cleaning without offering to help or switching a different table. she walked away then my friend was trying to get this waiter who passed by to see if we can seat somewhere else but he glanced in our direction and turned away. my glass was dirty so i had to ask this other waiter to get me a new one, he looked at me funny and said no it's not dirty it's just a scratch, i'll bring you a new one. it was not just A scratch. the service totally spoiled our appetite and we left the restaurant in the end. give me a break america. in the end we went to the bakery to grab a bowl of clam chowder. there was not one single clam and the soup was way too salty. don't get me started on the bad service again.
