I have dishwater blonde hair that is wavy and easily gets frizzy. Since finding Jennifer almost three years ago (just after she started at Alexander G,) I have had the most manageable hair that I have ever had. My highlights and lowlights always look great and my cuts are always fantastic. Not only does my hair look great when I leave the salon, but her cuts are so dead-on that I can recreate the just-left-the-salon style in less than 15 minutes with my roundbrush and hairdryer. AND I can still leave my hair curly when I want to.
Thanks, Jenn, for giving me the best hair of my life and minimizing the time I have to spend in front of the mirror in the morning.

I chose this salon based on the reviews from this site and I was unfortunately disappointed. I paid top dollar ($85) for the experienced stylist who was ""good with short hair."" I even brought in clippings from a magazine of my desired haircut to better explain what I was looking for. She started off going at a good pace but I felt she rushed towards the end as her hour was up and another client was already waiting. The rushing at the end, resulted to an uneven haircut. I called to have it corrected and learned that the stylist was on vacation. Since I live and work outside of the city, I was unable to come back when she would return from her vacation. After much explaining and requesting, they were able to accommodate me with a correction appointment a few days later. To my surprise, the gal who was tasked to correct my hair was the gal who was answering phones the first time I was there. (I am assuming that a high end salon wouldn't have their top stylist answer phones.) I felt duped especially having paid for a top stylist! Bless her heart, she was very patient and meticulous, but just not a very good stylist (you just know when you get a good haircut vs. one that isn't). My hair still doesn't fall right and I even need pins to make it look ok for work. What can I do? I have short hair so I'll have to wait til it grows out... This is by far, the worst haircut I have had! Take-away: Over-rated!! At the end of the day, what matter isn't everyone else's reviews /experiences, but YOURS!

I've been looking for a nice place to get my hair done. I've purposely looked for a highly rated salon in an effort to get a really nice look I could be proud of. I wanted someone to give me a really nice color - to even out the line around my head because I?m tired of keeping my highlights up. I wanted one color and a cut to clean me up. I called and introduced myself as a first time caller and if I can make an appointment with someone to work with me. Before I explained what I wanted, the receptionist went through a list of stylists, their names, their years of employment and ""experience"" at the shop, and prices per stylist. I was told that years of ""experience"" deemed the price of each person's styling services. While I appreciate paying for ""experience"", I failed to understand what it meant for me and what I needed. I had a specific need, and expected to call and be matched to the stylist most experienced to help me correct my problem. I was not given that opportunity. Instead, I was left to choose based on ""experience"" and being a first time caller, (and an online marketing executive), I was left to make a decision I was not able to make with confidence. I decided not make an appointment because the first point of contact didn't create an ""experience"" for me to feel comfortable and confident about spending a lot of money. I rated this below average due to poor customer service, which sadly many pay a premium for when patronizing this salon.

I just moved to SF from LA. The past few times I went to my ex-hairdresser she did not listen and rushed me through the color leaving me dissatisfied twice in a row. Thank goodness I found Aimee at Alexander G in SF. I do not have the funds to pay top dollar so I chose the cheapest out of the four stylists (not that it was a cheap adventure - $190 for full highlights and cut). But I was so impressed. The salon is calm and tranquil and Aimee really took the time to listen to what I wanted out of my cut and color. I was so pleased with the result. I will continue to go to Aimee for life. But make sure to leave about three hours for the process - it is well worth it!

I went to see Jennifer back in April for my final haircut before I re-located to New York. My hair is very short and cropped and Jennifer always makes it look feminine, well textured, and fresh. She knows that since my hair grows quickly, the texture is thick, and that it's SHORT, it should only be cut with a razor. SHE IS AMAZING WITH HER RAZOR!! I promise you, every time she cut my hair I never left a haircut feeling anxious to ""grow into the cut"", hating how they styled it, wishing they took more or less off, OR WORST OF ALL, LOOKING LIKE A BOY! It's been almost 2 months since my fantastic last hair cut with Jennifer and I know I'll have to find someone else to cut my hair here in New York very soon. This new stylist will have a lot to live up to. I also want to add that this is also the first time that I'm enjoying the grow out of my hair. It doesn't look as if the cut is in an ""awkward grow-out stage"" AT ALL!! Aside from her great talent and skill, she has an extremely pleasant and down-to-earth disposition. If you have short hair or want to make the transition to very short hair and are nervous about who to turn to, I assure you that you can totally trust Jennifer AND that' you'll never go anywhere else! OH!! ALSO, I TOOK THE #2 MUNI TO THE SALON FROM DOWNTOWN AND RAN INTO A DELAY ALONG THE WAY AND ENDED UP ARRIVING ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATE!! SHE WAS SO UNDERSTANDING AND NEVER SEEMED AS IF SHE WAS RUSHING THROUGH ANYTHING!! SHE EVEN TOOK TIME OUT TO LOOK AT PICTURES WITH ME BEFORE WASHING MY HAIR TO MAKE SURE WE BOTH KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED!! I DON'T THINK ANYONE COULD ASK FOR A BETTER STYLIST!

I saw Alex several times and then decided to try a different salon (even though I was happy with his work; I just have a hard time sticking to one thing). Let's just say, my adventures out there were far from good, some even disastrous. But now, in an awkward situation, with messed up hair, I couldn't possibly go back to the man I had cheated on!! Well, here I am 7 months later, back at Alexander G. and so grateful that Alex has welcomed me back with open arms. I'm reminded again why I came to this salon in the first place. Kind, understanding and unparalleled results. In my experience, I had met quite a few stylists that I know would surely give me the cold shoulder if they knew I had tried another salon. It's nice to know, Alexander G. is above and beyond that.

I recently went to Alexander G. on a recommendation from a friend. I saw Jennifer, senior stylist, for highlights and Alexander for the haircut. They were kind, attentive and the work was great--my hair looks fabulous. The synchronicity and atmosphere was an impressive experience. I completely recommend this salon to anyone.

I went to the Alexander g. salon recently because two different friends recommended this place to me. Plus I read about this salon in a fashion mag. I saw Jen for highlights, haircut and a glaze. I am extremely happy with the outcome and will continue to go back. My fiancee said my hair looked beautiful and I hadn't told him I went to a salon that day. Loved the atmosphere here and I am definitely addicted to the glazes here now too. Gives that extra WOW that everyone seems to notice.

I made my apt. based on reviews from citysearch. However, from the moment I walked in I was disappointed. The music was super loud and quite obnoxious and the place was empty. The decor inside was nice though and my stylist was waiting for me. I mentioned several times my two key goals and when the stylistic seemed like she understood me we began. I was not offered tea or any of the other niceties mentioned in earlier posts. Though they did turn down the music at my request...probably because there were no other clients/stylists inside. She took more than an hour to cut my hair, which in the end was a very simple, traditional cut...something the folks at supercuts could have handled with ease. However, she did not cut the bangs the way I asked, and the two things I had asked for both were ignored, in fact I had the opposite. Now, to her credit, she was very nice the whole time and suggested I go home and try it out and if I wasn't happy I could come back and she would fix it. So I went home and really hated the cut and the fact that she had not listened at all to my requests. I called the next day and she took me right away as her schedule was completely free. When I went in I expressed my frustration and she listened. However, her response was that normally people who ask for the items I was asking for really don't want that and she didn't want to cut it the way I asked because she thought I wouldn't like it. No matter how much I insisted she wouldn't cut it the way I asked. Finally in frustration I had her fix the bangs and make the other cuts even and I left...very frustrated and unhappy. For that kind of money I expect a stylist to listen and to cut my hair the way I ask. I know, after questioning her that she didn't have a lot of experience, but that is the most important thing to learn....TO LISTEN. Wouldn't go there again.
