As parents we want the best for our children as they grow from infant to toddler to kindergartner and so on, but I also have the perspective that we are constantly learning as parents - how can we be better each day as parents because we've never done this parent thing before either. With that in mind, Montessori Children's Center and the women that lead and teach here, are helping us grow/improve as parents in addition to committing themselves to helping my daughter grow as a child. Our daughter is in her second year at MCC and our family loves this school and feel fortunate we found it. I regularly witness my daughter blow a kiss and brightly bid goodbye with an 'I love you' to the MCC teachers and her many friends. I recommend MCC to families seeking a preschool in the Sunset, West Portal, Noe Valley, Daly City, Ingleside, SF State, Park Merced area of the Bay. Beyond the Montessori approach for core learning, MCC is rooted in plenty of opportunity for play and social development. The program delivers a top notch offering of music, singing, dancing, cultural exchange, nature, gardening, imaginary play, cooking, arts & crafts, exposure to foreign languages and American Sign Language. As a parent, I never imagined I'd have the challenge of having to talk my daughter into enjoying a 'summer vacation' instead of crying because she wasn't going to school for a few months this summer, but that's what we experienced (*MCC does offer a summer program for families seeking 12-months of continuous preschool). In addition to our daughter's love for MCC, I've enjoyed my interaction with other MCC families, a diverse group of dedicated parents. Several of the parents were students of MCC founder/current director Judith Flynn and now are experiencing their own kids attending the school. The school leadership is dedicated to the children they serve, the community and again the parents -- they issue a monthly newsletter, organize parent/child evenings, parent only sessions with guest speakers and informative topics, special events (holiday performances and celebrations, visits from the symphony, zoo mobile etc.), picture day, parent conferences and office hours. They have an extensive library of books open to families. They offer opportunities for families to participate in cultural/ethnic exchange which has been amazing. I can't say enough about Montessori Children's Center and I look forward to my daughter's remaining several years at the school as well as sending my younger daughter next year when she turns two. *Opinions are my own.
The Maria Montessori School is a great little preschool. The teachers are sweet, caring and loving. Gem of a school!

My son has been going to Hong's Family daycare since December 2013. I can not ask for a better daycare for my son. Hong and Tina really care for the kids as if they were their own. She is also very attentive to my son's every need. When she realized that my son was refusing milk and not having enough calcium, she asked me what kind of dairy products he likes to eat. The next week, she provided the yogurt and string cheese. I thought that was very accommodating to my son because she is tailoring their meals according to their habits. That shows me she is really cares for every child and is not just providing generic meals to every child and not caring if they eat or not. Hong also provides stimulating activities and Mandarin lessons during the day. My son's vocabulary continues to increase and surprises me with phrases he has learned. My son is only 19 months and she has started potty training him and is able to tell me if he needs to go. That has been extremely helpful to me so I can just continue his training during the weekends. She is also very good about letting me know how he is during the day. Sometimes she send me some videos and pictures of them. My son also loves Hong and Tina and immediately goes to them when I drop him off and sometimes doesn't want to leave when i pick him up. Hong is also very flexible with pick up and drop off times if you let her know in advance. She always made me feel very comfortable leaving my son with her since the very beginning. I am confident that he is safe, well-taken care of, loved, and is stimulated with her activities everyday. I highly recommend Hong for childcare.
I can say with confidence that there is no way my husband and I would have been able to go to work every day and focus on our own jobs for the past two and a half years if we didn't absolutely know that Lucille was giving our daughter the best care and love she could possibly offer, every single day. There are so many ways daycare providers can choose to cut corners and get lazy. However, it was always abundantly clear to us that Lucille takes great pride in the services she provides and her standards are incredibly high, sometimes higher than ours! Her home is spotless and she takes great care in keeping things as clean and germ free as possible. The toys and books are lovingly and thoughtfully chosen, and rotated often. Meals and snacks are organic and healthy. Daily written logs on our child's disposition, what she ate, how she napped, pottied, etc., were so helpful to us, and gave us a clear idea of what was happening while we were away. I always appreciated the way Lucille and my husband and I approached issues and decisions regarding our daughter's care together, and the way we communicated as a team. Lucille has a great deal of knowledge and expertise, and it was great to have her as a resource regarding parenting issues. I am forever grateful to Lucille and her amazing family and we will miss them terribly when our daughter moves on to preschool!
