This is always a great place to go out for those of us that have to be at work the next day. Why? because it's over at 10pm. Getting kicked out at 10pm forces me to cut he night short, whereas somewhere else the next 4 hours would slip by my drunken stupor and cause me to have a hurt filled next day, fighting my way thru the day. The music tends to get better as the night goes on, either that or I get drunker. Either way you can't beat this for a Wednesday night. Happy hour is over at 7pm, I usually get there around 7pm so I always miss it so I'm not sure what the specials are. But I always love the diversification of the crowd. I could show up in a suit or in ripped jeans and a leather jacket and wouldn't stick out one bit.
I found this gallery just walking along Valencia. In the window I had spotted a beautiful piece, a box made from salvaged wood, so I walked in. In short, that was it. I found an artist whose work I love. I bought that piece. I went to their next First Friday Art Opening and met some of the talented artists in person. I bought two more pieces. Another thing is that the art here is - affordable, accessible for young and not rich art appreciators. Also, it is a Co-op, so the artists rotate working in the gallery, and you get to meet an artist every time you stop in. I love City Art! It is a great place to go.
Wow, a frame shop that’s actually fun to be in. The staff was amazing, very knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to see you. The prices were very reasonable, especially for custom framing. They can handle the really difficult custom work as well. They had a fantastic selection, probably the largest I’ve seen. I’ve been framing things for years. I have yet to find a better price and service. I would recommend this store to anyone. The art gallery is also top notch.
