I confess - I've only really had breakfast fare here at the Antique Row Cafe. I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened, and I love their breakfasts. They have a large selection of omelets and frittatas, as well as standard "bacon and eggs" type combos and pancakes. The pancakes are out of this world. I am not a big pancake eater because I don't like maple syrup, but I love the pancakes here! I eat them without syrup and they are just wonderful; light and fluffy with a hint of vanilla. The omelets are all good, and the portions are large. There are always specials on the board, and I find that the specials are the best part of coming here. The restaurant has expanded, so there is a lot more seating than there used to be, but if you come on a weekend morning be prepared to wait. But don't be put off by a crowd milling about the entrance - the wait is worth it. Good food, reasonable prices.

I went to Mystic Mocha with a friend after reading a couple of rave reviews, and found it just great. We both ordered lattes and shared a pastry. The latte was outstanding; maybe the best I've had here in San Diego. Only one other shop I've been to has rivaled this one - the latte was creamy and the flavor was a perfect mix of espresso and milk. The pastry was an apple cinnamon pumpkin concoction that tasted fresh and was very satisfying to my sugar addiction, even though it seemed as though the sugar content was quite low. We were there in the afternoon, after the kitchen had closed, so we weren't able to order off the menu, but it looked very good, and we plan to go back in the morning so we can try the breakfast. If you are an espresso drinker, I highly recommend trying this wonderful little coffee shop in the middle of a residential neighborhood, but just above Mission Valley.
Try It! This restaurant and coffee shop is as welcoming as thy can get. Mike, the owner, is so decent, kind, generous and friendly that you should just come here to meet him. Watch some soccer on the TV. Kick back and enjoy some very good coffee. And I loved the fact that there is no menu. Ask Mike what he can make for you that day. Sandwiches. Ethiopian dishes. You never know, but you will like the food. Mike treated us to a complete meal consisting of tibs (beef with and without berbere awaze sauce), lentils and tomatoes, onions and peppers. Delicious. Of course the Injera was superb. I love the feel of Injera. It has such a different texture. Everyone is so welcome here, come on in and enjoy it.
