San Diego Fitness is hands-down one of the best gyms in the city. The facilities are amazing - up-to-date, clean, really well-maintained, and never crowded. But the best thing about this gym is really the trainers. It's the most approachable, fun, comfortable environment. Whether you're just getting back into shape or you're training for Iron Man, anyone would enjoy working out here. I've been training there with Mike sinceSeptember 2011. He is an AMAZING trainer. He takes the time to get to know your goals - both in and out of the gym - and then he tailors the perfect program for you. He doesn't put you through the traditional, boring "Do X reps and we'll just keep increasing the weight" routine. No two sessions are alike. You mix many different techniques - TRX band work, plyometrics, kickboxing, jumping rope, dynamic stretching, stability ball, ab work, even a little yoga, etc. I genuinely look forward to every single workout with Mike. His workouts are the perfect combination of fun and hard work. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the different exercises. Understanding why you're doing something and focusing on the technique can really distract you from what a challenging workout he's giving you! He is really funny and friendly, which also makes the time fly by in the gym. I cannot say enough good things about this gym or Mike - great environment and such an amazing trainer!
In the social consciousness, fights and friendliness rarely are companions. Bu they are here. Every day. Come on it and meet the owner of Undisputed, David Ventura. Thirty-three years old and boxing since he was thirteen. This gym is the best I have ever seen. Friendly and it has everything you need to get into condition, learn box, or any other martial arts available. The instructors are world renowned, and can teach anyone, and they teach with discipline to increase physical skill, conditioning and spiritual development. Also, and this is really cool, this is really a family gym. Who would have thought that? But it is. From young to old you are welcomed with open arms. I have been in gyms for over 50 years, and this is absolutely the best. As for being a mom and pop shop, David is being rather literal. Not only does he want Undisputed to be a part of the community, his actual family comes in to help with the day to day upkeep. A fluid continuation of his lifestyle; as a teenager he took up boxing so that he could protect his four sisters. He only got into a few fights, but the art of boxing did become a love of his, since he finds it to increase personal character along with strength. And now, years later, some of his classes cater to children so that he can pass on what he discovered: that by learning boxing or a martial art, you can lead a confident and healthy lifestyle.
