We received great service and delicious food. The restaurant was a little noisy, but not obnoxiously so. The menu included some non-traditional breakfast items, which we enjoyed.

I ate here last weekend. It doesn't look anything like the photo shown above. Instead, it looks like it just stepped off Bourbon Street! very New Orleans with wrought iron and all. I tried the chicken salad sandwich it was a good lunch. Didn't care for the fries, to be honest inn-n-out has better fries, but the over-all aesthetic is what makes North Park special and different than other neighborhoods in SD.
This is THE thing I miss about living in San Diego...
We used to live down the street from this amazing little eatery and have been there probably 50 times in the past 4 years. We have NEVER been disappointed. From the incredible wine and beer selection to the AMAZING mac and cheese, I don't think I've ever had a meal there that I haven't loved!
I love their commitment to sustainable food, as well as fresh, local produce. With a seasonally changing menu, I always look for something new to try, but I have to say if you are into it, GET THE MEATLOAF. It is the one thing (besides the mac and cheese) that I look for EVERY time we go. It's moist, and delicious and the lamb pairs incredibly well with the sweetness of the figs... it's not your Momma's Meatloaf, but it sure is DAMN good.
Top off that meatloaf with the salted caramel pot de creme and you will need to be rolled out the door, pleasantly stuffed!

I went to Urban Solace a couple months ago and it was terrific. Chef Matt Gordon came out and told us all about his modern twist to everyday foods. Everything we had was just amazing. The atmosphere outside made it feel like you were in a quaint, European city. The macaroni and cheese was excellent. The staff was nice. I highly recommend this place and I can't wait to go back.

After spending 4 great days in San Diego, the dinner we had at Urban Solace was by far the most memorable out of our entire trip. The food was excellent! We started with the Watermelon Salad with Pomegranate dressing (great combination) and the Sweet potato fries with buttermilk dressing (must have!). We also had the NY Mac and Cheese (needed some salt), Duckaroni (nice and smoky), and the Pork Chop entree(my favorite of the entrees) - All were fantastic. The restaurant was cozy and the atmosphere was not stuffy at all. Service was great and our waiter was very passionate about the food. We didn't stay for dessert (we opted for Heavenly Sent down the block), but hear the Velvet Cake is tasty. Had hoped to go back for Sunday Brunch- maybe next trip. Urban Solace does a great job on comfort food and we left very satisfied.

I was visiting from NYC for 12 days and we ended up at Urban Solace on 3 different occasions. Hands down, the watermelon/pomegranate/greek salad is one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. I'm still dreaming of it and plan to replicate it on my own. The servers and staff were very friendly and accommodating if ocassionally slow for this New Yorker's taste. Other dishes of note include the pulled chicken and dumplings, the ""Not Your Mamma's"" meatloaf and the sweet potato fries. If you can, save room for dessert and try the ""Not So Red"" Velvet cake. Wow. Just wow. I will definitely return and even make a special trip to eat here again. Go. Tell your friends.

My first experience with this restaurant was a food and wine pairing event that allowed me to sample a wide range of the menu and get some face time with the head chef.
After several courses it became abundantly clear that these owners demand perfection. They choose high quality ingredients and slave over them until they reach culinary mastery. Each bite put a smile on my face and I was happy to share the experience with some close friends making the evening unforgettable.
I had the privledge of attending a wine & food pairing event last week and was delighted by the quality of food, excellent wines, fantastic service and overall experience. I had peeked into the restaurant before planning on coming in for dinner as I was so intrigued by the outside. (New Orleans style exterior)
I was pleased to see the inside was as great as the outside! Gourgeous thoughful food preparation awaited on the inside. My highlights include:
-Seared Albacore Chop Chop (like a spicy ahi poke mixed with delicious guacamole! Fantastic)
-Watermelon/Greek salad with dried currants & pomegranate vinaigrette-all I can say is party in my mouth!
-Butternut Squash & Goat Cheeze Dip was heavenly! Healthy Comfort food.
-I believe an all West Coast wine list (why not? Look how lucky we are to have so many amazing vineyards on the West Coast)
I can't wait to go back and sit under the stars again on Urban Solace's outside patio under the strung light and enjoy another delicious meal paired with their delicious wines. Also, I'm looking forward to trying their Sunday brunch with a live bluegrass band!

I went to Urban Solace the other night for the first time. I was invited to a wine tasting through CitySearch, and since I had never been to this place I was curious. The items on the menu are reasonable priced and have a fun variation of familiar items, such as chicken and dumplings (theirs is pulled chicken with buttermilk dumplings, scrumptious!).
During the wine tasting we were able to sample their watermelon, tomato, cucumber salad with pomegranate vinagarette dressing. It was heaven. A very playful combination of flavors and really got me excited for the next course. Every item that we tried was more delishous from the next. The head chef has daring combinations of flavors that result in a triumph. I am in my mid twenties, and not only did this restaurant appeal to me, but I know my 73 year old father would love it, too. So the atmosphere pleases multiple generations.
I have been told reservations are recommeded, especially for their popular Sunday brunch which I will come back to experiences (live Blue Grass music every Sunday!)
