It's not the most adventurous, it's not the most in--your-face, but it's arguably some of the best food in North Park. There's a lot to be said for simple food, cooked well, and served in a friendly dining room. I've been twice, and each time had gracious staff experiences, knowledgable beer/wine pairings and, on the menu, we love the burger, the cheese board and the fish and chips. The patio seems to be more popular for seating, but I totally prefer the cozy inside tables.

Let me first start by saying that everyone who worked there last night was very pleasant. It is with a heavy heart that I have to write a negative review. Upon arrival we were greeted quickly enough and offered drinks as we waited for a table. Then we waited, and waited, and waited, 40 minutes to be exact. They forgot about us, or more specifically the host forgot about us, when we went to go check on our table for the second time, we finally got seated at a table that had been ready the whole time. The odd thing was that the people were so nice and friendly they were completely unaware that anything was wrong; it was as if they couldn't imagine that there would be anything wrong with the 40 minute wait, when they weren't busy at all. I had been there previously and had the shrimp scampi which I enjoyed, however this time I was to be disappointed, as another reviewer commented, the shrimp was overcooked and the sauce lacked ooomph. The burger, was in fact a burger, but one I could have only spent $4 on at in 'n out instead. I also saw another table with the mussels, which sadly looked wonderful, but was the last serving available (probably could have gotten it 40 minutes ago...). The shepherd?s pie was fantastic I will admit and if I was to ever eat there again, that would be on the bill. The beer list is awesomely long so I would recommend this as a place to get a drink, but for a meal, not so much.

The staff was friendly and groovy. The cute waitress had geek chic glasses and knew about the beers. The fish/chips were great, the hamburger was...a hamburger... the shepherds pie was great. Belgian beer on tap, delicious! Good lighting and low but not quiet volume level. It's not as close as my 'usual' so this will still be my alternate pub and it's not cheap, but otherwise this is my new favorite. Try it out.

A group of us, 4 to be exact went there last night for dinner. This is the first time for us to visit this place and we were quite excited given the good reviews that we've read. Upon entering, we were impressed with the simple but tasteful set-up of the place. It really evoked an old pub feeling. The food was in itself disappointing. We ordered the scampi (shrimps were overcooked) and the sauce was limp, to say the least (it tasted vinegary and lacked that garlic ooomph). The onion rings were greasy. They had oysters and these could have been clams, due to their dimunitive size. My friends ordered the gumbo and they liked it, though quite spicy for their taste. Two of us ordered the sheperd's pie - I actually liked it after sprinkling a little bit of salt. When mixed with the mashed potato, it came out good.
Service was a disappointment. My friend who ordered the gumbo had to wait and wait and wait for his soup spoon before he can eat. I requested for an extra plate of bread - I had to remind Chris, our foodserver again about it as I was about to finish my pie. We even had to request for a refill of our drink. The bread was good, though, crispy on the outside and soft inside. There were 3 wait staffs going around (and the place was not that big) yet service was really terrible.
A table next to us ordered mussels (we didn't even see that on the menu nor was this mentioned to us) - we would have ordered them.
If you want a good drink, this is a place to go. Their list of beers was a mile long. Sadly, the food choices are limited. Given the way the food was prepared, it may as well be that way....
