Lots of stuff, could use a little better customer service

I bought my son's first rocket last month and when he opened it we noticed that it had obviously already been opened previoulsy. We brought it back to the store and asked for an exchange. The teenage front desk clerk asked, ""Is that really the truth?"" when I told him the rocket kit had been opened and there were pieces missing. I asked him if he was questioning my intregrity and he replied, ""Some people like to lie."" I was about to ask for the manager when he decided to just exchange it on the spot. The sales person who helped me the first time was helpful, polite and knowledgable. Everything worked out fine but not the greatest experience of my day today.

do not work with Hobby Central! But, it seems like we live there. We LOVE this place. Great customer service and very helpful information!\r \r The first time I went in there. One guy helped me right from the start. He was so helpful and he knew I had no clue. They showed me what I needed. I even left it there so, they could put the parts on it for me. Price wasnt that bad either! I see alot of you complaining on the prices. Think about it!! Prices are prices! RC cars aint cheap at all!\r \r Everyone has a bad day! Go back and try again. We keep going back because of the great customer service and the helpful information.\r

Worst service experience ever...

I've talked to these guys before about help and they were very willing an helpful in store. Loved to talk, which was good as I was learning. HOWEVER, I brought my Emaxx in for some help with a problem I was having with blown motors. I brought it in the week of Thanksgiving 2010 and told them the issue. They said no issue, we'll have it done a week or so. The only thing I asked was that they not go over $100 in repairs, given I only paid $200 for the truck and to call me if they got close. Well, I've called 4 times and kept getting the, ""the technician is not in yet and your truck is not ready because we were busy over the holidays"". So I said fine, can you call me when it's done. Of course, no call. Today I called (1/9/2011) and finally it's ready. I ask what the charge is, $165... WTF!!!??? I'm absolutely pissed. Will NEVER go here again even if they are the largest hobby shop around SD.

Hobby Central has been great with repairs and parts for our rc cars that we purchased there, always providing honest advise. Pricing is competively marked on merchandise. Have been going here since they were in Poway. Owner enjoy's the biz, nice to talk with about the store and whats new in the industry.

I found the employees helpful. I was looking for an RC car (of some sort) and they guided me to a Traxxas Slash. The best RC car I have ever owned! I hate people that leave bad reviews. They are usually the uptight people that have nothing else better to do but leave bad reviews when they are usually the ""hard to please"" type that are never satisfied. Thanks Hobby Central!\r

Bad reviews are opinions by people who for some reason or another felt that the employees didn't fall to the floor and lick their shoes. Hobby Central has a good staff of people. There are a couple of newer guys that may not be up to speed on EVERYTHING and to slam the store by cut an pasting reviews all over the internet shows the immaturity of customers with bad attitudes.\r \r Hobby Central employees value our customers highly and 99.9% of them would write a good review.\r \r Unfortunately it's the few people that felt their butts weren't kissed hard enough that leave bad remarks.

After visiting 2 other hobby stores, Hobby Central was it! A HUGE STORE!!! Knowledable guys and yes, you have to pay a little more....but it's worth it!!!
My husband and son left happy after a sad beggining to the day. -

Hands down 100% friendlier better than hobby people! after going to hobby central once, I will NEVER again spend my money at Hobby People. The guys at Hobby Central are great, love their customers, very nice and take time to help us out unlike the crapy attidudes at hobby people....Lee your the greatest!!

incompetent in their field

I saw their web site which said something like ""everything for your hobby needs"" and listed Estes rockets as one of their specialties. I had a very simple question that I asked over the phone. The guy on the other end was no help and sounded a bit condescending and offered no referral for help. It was as though he didn't want to be bothered by my call even though I would have gladly given him my business if he did have the part I needed. He did however end the call by saying ""good luck"" and I wished him the same as I think he'll need it more then me.

Asked if they had a rc part in stock and they look at me as if ""is that all your going to buy look"". then they ignored me. After that experiene I give San Diego Hobby Central a big thumbs down. I wish this review site can give no stars instead of one star, cause thats what this hobby shop deserved !

nice people, till you get the bill

I am new at this RC. They seem to be real nice till I got got home with my buggy and equipment. I told my freinds what I paid for the Rc and I got ripped big time ! I checked around yup I paid twice and a half over ! THIEVES !!!!!!!!! No wonder the guys behind the counter were real nice. Never Ever EVER again I will go to this RC shop of thieves !!

This shop has overly high prices and bad service. Any of the other reviews that were good about this shop had to be from people that worked there. There service boss or owner was so rude. Anyone looking to buy RC please go to another shop or buy from a computer !
