How much should it cost to replace an outdoor air conditioner's motor?
"I had a guy come out and he was done in less than 45 minutes. The motor has 1/3 HP, 1075 RPM's, 208-230 Volts. I was charged $545 for parts and labor and $65 for the service call for a total of $610. Please tell me this is about right, because I was a little shocked at the total, but I was so desperate w/out air. I know the part was maybe $100, but is there that much of a mark-up in this business? "

This was a clip I read after my repair I was charged $820.00 and was told it was a special motor as to why it cost over $500.00 I called a few shops and they said around $500 was resonable for the total repair....and the mgf sells the motor retail for 210.00.

Yes I was taken for 300.00 because it was hot out.

I was happy to get a technician today to add some freon to my AC vacation rentals wall unit. The guy arrived and very impatiently asked questions to the manager on site. The asked for access to the units and when we went to look for the maintenance guy, the technician turned around and left the premises. This technician has ZERO customer service. He wasn't able to call me to ask a question. Instead, he said he has no time to wait. No service, no diagnosis, no payment. This company is a JOKE!!!!!!!

My AC compressor failed on one of the hottest days of the year. I called three major providers and was told there was a 3-4 day wait for an appointment. I called ASA and they had a guy out here in 90 minutes, and the repair took 15 minutes (bad capacitor). Further, ASA’s prices seem lower than my usual provider.
