Have been going there for a few months now and dont really have any complaints. I have 2 kids and my husband on our membership and the price is right. At another gym i had previously signed up at the price was almost double for all of us. My only complaints would be that they only have childcare open during what seems to be the busy times and I often have trouble finding an open cardio equipment, and although the ladies in childcare are soo sweet and my children LOVE being there, my older son has told me about how the bigger boys punch and kick him sometimes :( , the staff has been responsive with my concerns though and I still feel ok bringing him there because he LOVES it sooo much!
Yes the new facility is nice, but ever since Mission Valley came in and took over, the programs have suffered. The prices for daycamp have really gone up in the past year. They are not offering anything more in the program, they just increased the price. I just did the math for a week of summer camp this year, compared to a week last year. It is now going to cost me just over $30 more, and they are not offering anything more. They also increased the price for the 13 - 17 year olds program to $120 a week. It was $60 a week before the new facility opened. They are going to slowlly price out the people that actually live in the community from using their services.
Big parking lot for this busy location so be prepared to park away from the entrance and walk a little to get that workout started. Exit from the 94 west and you practically turn into the driveway. From the 94 east exit at Broadway/College and follow the curves north to College Grove Way. The driveway is past the Sam's Club and better than trying to negociate the Wal Mart or Target areas of the parking lot. Friendly staff, cavernous workout area and huge B-Ball court. Pool is usually cold but the Jacuzzi is right next to it. This gym has a kids care center also, so there are lots of moms here.
For those who don't know Horton plaza save some time and enter through the 4th and G street side to find the facility. It takes up the ground level corner of the mall at this point. Parking is available in the cavernous garage on the opposite side of the mall, so the walk to the gym will get your workout started. There is a 2nd floor for the workout equipment so if you are in a wheelchair there is an elevator. The jacuzzi has no wheelchair lift however which doesn't matter because they always seem to be doing some maintenance or remodeling to it. It is rarely available for use by the members.
Hola! Pierina Rydalch
I have been coming to OTF now for over a year. I have done many bootcamps and gyms in town and by far this is the best work out. Love the circuit training and the trainers who lead you through a one hour intense work out. I burn anywhere between 550 to 750 calories.. the heart moniters you wear are amazing. everyone is super friendly and I look forward in going in! thanks #OTFSANDIEGO for the best work out everrrr!
I enjoy this facility due to its proximaty to my employer. It is also convenient to the MTS lines #'d 1, 10, 11 & 120. Parking is terrible as it is for any business in Hillcrest. The staff is indifferent and really only pay attention to the members who have offered a tip to the 'personal' trainer. So if you go here, be prepared to go it alone. (And it looks like you should use the bathroom at home.)
It is hard to call this a Gym, they offer a vairety of classes like Boxing, Kickboxing, Yoga and many others. I am excited to try TRX, it is suspension training and looks like a killer workout. Membership is really reasonable, everything is included, you never pay or a class or locker or a towel. I was paying a gym membership and $15 a session for yoga now I just go here and it's awesome.
This facility delivers flavor of old school with state of the art. Its basic concept deliver something for everyone with friendly neighborhood atmosphere. If you are a resident the O.B area you are sure to run into friends. The facility offers an array of Plate loaded, pin selected, free weight, cardio equpment, free weights, bags, ects. on a 64 acre park what a beauty.
This is a large facility, mostly underground. It is very well equipped, convenient, and well staffed. The gym is set up to satisfy the needs of everyone, from those who are interested in fitness to competitive bodybuilders, and you can't complain about the hours. BTW- This is a pretty glowing report; I'm in no way affiliated with the company.
