I recently graduated from Career Point College in May with an AAS Degree in Accounting Technology. I’m happy to say I just started a job working as an Accounting Clerk and I love my job. It took me eight months to get my job and it wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t attend Career Point. I was debating about attending a 4-year college university but being a single mother, it would have been too much to handle. Luckily Career Point had night classes, flexible schedules and even a day care where I can leave my son at while going to class and work. If there is any advice I can give to people interested in attending a vocational school/tech college like Career Point is that you should know what you want to do first and see what degrees/certificates will help you get there. I’m a very detailed person and I knew accounting was something I was good at when I took it in high school. I hope Career Point fits you and if you choose Accounting Technology, Chip Thornsburg is one of the best instructors in the Business/IT division that’s more than happy to help students!
As with any vocational school and tech college, you get out what you put in. I learned from great teachers who also work in the fields they teach. That was one of the reasons why I chose Career Point. Most professors in traditional universities and even tech colleges receive all these degrees and yet instead of applying them to the field they have studied, they teach it. How can you teach something that you haven't applied in the real world??? I studied to be a medical assistant and was fortunate enough to find an entry medical assistant job 5 months after I graduated. The school can only do so much to help you with finding a job because it's really up to yourself to find one. I am happy that they helped me as much as they could with the job hunt process. And with the night classes they offered, I was able to make time to work and support myself while not just attending classes but also participating in the school's Medical Society. If you're interested in the medical field, then I highly recommend starting off by joining Career Point.
Career point was a good experience for me. I learned alot through this school, and im tired of reading all these negative comments. The same people that you saw all through grade school, sitting in the back of the room disrupting class, not paying attention, not doing their work, yet complaining about thier failing grade when it came to the end of the semester, are the same people that are posting all these bad comments. You cant expect the school to just hand you a diploma just because. As far as getting employed, the school can only do so much. Their not gonna baby you all through your interview. Its all about being self motivated and self sufficient. I recomend this school to anyone who is serious about taking a step forward in life.
