Very poor customer service. They showed no concern that I was 600 miles away from my house in a $40k truck with 1800 miles on it, that had a blown pinion seal. Them as well as General "bailout" Motors refused to provide rental even though they claim to have a 5 yr 100k mile warranty. Thanks y…

All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
I love to acknowledge those who provide a great customer experience and my experience with Daddy's Tint and Alarm was one for the ages. Here is my honest evaluation of this business below. Read the rest of the story to find out just what great people they are. MATERIAL QUALITY: EXCELLENT WORKMANSHIP: EXCELLENT PRICE: EXCELLENT (you get more value than you pay for) CUSTOMER SERVICE: EXCELLENT+ WARRANTY: EXCELLENT (Lifetime) WORKPLACE CLEANLINESS: EXCELLENT (cleaner than most restaurants). Not only was the quality, workmanship and price first class, the customer experience was well beyond what I would expect from any service provider. It started out as a comedy of errors on my part. My daughter was out of town and I wanted to surprise her by having her windows professionally tinted on her car as part of her graduation reward. I showed up late for my appointment after forgetting to call and let them know I was coming, but Jesse had already started on a walk in and was booked the rest of the day following week. But instead of being turned away, Jesse and his son arranged for me to leave my car overnight and promised to get it done within the next few days as time permitted realizing how important it was to me to have it done before my daughter returned. The next challenge came when I told Jesse that, not only did I not have a ride, but I realized I had left my wallet at home. Kindly, Jesse took his lunch time to give me a ride home in my daughter's car. As I drove home I looked down and realized that the gas tank was empty but I assured Jesse there was enough gas for us to get my wallet and get to the nearest gas station. He offered to buy gas and bill me later but I was sure we were fine. By this time he had to wonder what in the world he had gotten himself into. We arrived at my home only to be concerned that the fuel gauge was warning us we had a range of "zero" miles and the gas station was still two miles away. Jesse smiled and waited patiently as he watched me get the lawn mower gas can and fill the tank with the little bit of gas I had. After fueling the car at the gas station and allowing Jesse to get back to work I was surprised to have him call me four hours later to tell me he was able to get my car in and that I could pick it up after 5:00 if I wanted it that day. I picked it up the next day and WOW what a great looking car! The quality and workmanship are outstanding. I even found myself turning down the AC because it felt so cold (and this was on a very hot humid day), confirming what Jesse said about the outstanding heat reflection that his material provides over other more popular cheap brands. As i was leaving I inquired about windshield UV and heat protection for this car and my other cars and was happy to learn that Daddy's Tint and Alarm uses the 3M Crystalline 3MCR90 Clear Automotive Window Film that is the rave in the industry. I will be back over the next several months for that service and look forward to introducing my family to another great family. Thanks Jesse. Didn't catch your son's name but he is certainly class act in his own right.
Regarding RIPOFF Review by Travis C on 2/4/15 Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Travis. At Bert’s Gene Brown Transmission we encourage our clients to openly communicate any and all concerns regarding, price, quality and customer service issues. Therefore we are surprised that you did not bring this to our attention earlier so that we could address it as soon as possible. With all due respect, the cost of the transmission was $1500 exactly- not $1800 and you paid an additional $165 to have work performed on the drive shaft. The only item that comes to mind on your transmission that may have been siliconed is the governor cap. The application of silicone is standard procedure in sealing the governor cap to prevent leakage. Originally we repaired your transmission on February 13, 2013 which was 24 months ago. The repair had a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. To date your warranty has already been expired one year. However, as you clearly stated in your review, Steve still offered to fix your issues although the warranty had been expired approaching a year. Our intentions to satisfy your complaint was evident and clear as we willingly made efforts to reach out to you. However when I made phone contact with you to resolve the issue, you strongly rejected my request to allow Steve to join our conversation for the purpose of achieving complete clarity on the situation and you then ended the phone call. Your refusal to allow Steve to participate in an effort to resolve this issue has rendered a solution to your complaint unattainable. However, should you reconsider to take us up on our offer, we are ready and willing to stand behind our work. Please call the shop at 210-637-5555 and ask for me, Bert, directly. Once again thank you, Travis. *******Updated Response: February 7, 2015******* Hello Travis, my purpose for reaching out to you was not to create a situation that would produce an argument. The purpose of Steve being a party to the call was not for him to rebuttal you. It was for the purpose of Steve listening so he could get a complete understanding as to why you are dissatisfied since he offered to fix your issue even a yr out of warranty. I even assured you there would be no communication between you and Steve. No argument nor rebuttal from Steve will be allowed. Once again I ended my first response by offering you an open invitation should you choose to take me up on my offer. Please contact me personally. You have nothing to loose. Bring your truck so that I can check it out and test drive it. Also, please bring your receipt showing what's been repaired or replaced along with proof of payment so that we can determine an amicable agreement. It's that simple. My offer stands for 72 hours. Once again, please feel free to contact me. Thank you, Travis.
I started going to bring your own parts back in Oct '11 where I used to take all my business to a local Firestone. BYOP was really helpful in finding the parts for me and installing them the same day while I waited in their main lobby. The reason I'm giving them 5 stars is because of their dedication to resolve a complex issue on my Acura's Power Steering pump. I work for an IT industry and when a real interesting issue arises we have to investigate and setup monitors to help determine the issue. This can sometimes take longer than a couple of days resolve. Well BYOP did exactly this. They replaced the pump with an aftermarket, which created a noise issue only when turning the wheel slightly. It didn't start until I left the shop and arrived in Austin. They replaced it with another aftermarket under warranty and the next pump worked but started to create a noise as well. There was an issue with the pulley that was not completely straight and the tensioner that caused the belt to come off. It seemed like a disaster but they assigned Martin to me, where they researched the issue and collaborated together. It turns out Acura’s have a difficult time with some select aftermarket parts and doesn’t take to them well. I had to go OEM, which I researched myself, and was the right thing to do to in the first place. As I had already paid for labor, I just had to pay the difference for the OEM parts. When I left my car there they drove me across the street on Bandera to Avis where they have a nice discount for BYOP customers and the Avis staff is very friendly. Again, BYOP took care of ordering all the OEM parts and returning the aftermarket parts without adding to the additional cost and pain of returning parts. They researched that you had to clean out and install the slot where the tensioner goes and they never gave up until my car was noise free. It’s an 11 year old car but still drives like I got it off the lot. They have a great system for documenting all the service/labor and it’s available online as well. For a company who does not know the history of the maintenance and things do go wrong after 11 years , I’ll quote Martin “There is always a resolution, just need to diagnosis and resolve it”. Thanks BYOP and staff at Bandera.
I bought 3 more cars from Benson Honda thanks to my superior salesman Rob Drury! I took my daughter to get her first car and I was trading in my 2015 pilot for a smaller car. I really didn't know what I wanted for myself; planned on a civic for my daughter. Anyway my salesman Rob Drury spent all day with us on 3 separate occasions, literally. He was very patient, professional, knowledgeable and offered some very useful advice. We ended up getting a civic and an accord and just like last time in 2014 everything went perfectly with minimal negotiation and a very fair deal. The floor manager gave us everything we wanted at the price I was willing to pay and the finance department was incredibly efficient. I left happy and of course my daughter was thrilled. My wife felt left out, so less than a week later we went back to Benson Honda to get the windows tinted on both cars, and Rob Drury spent another day with us, and he was again perfect. We test drove the CRV, and Accord, but my wife wanted to trade in her van and get the new 2016 Pilot which was has limited availability currently. Rob was able to find us exactly what we wanted and the manager gave us the deal we wanted so we were all very pleased with the process. After the sale Chelsea in customer relations continued to impress me by ensuring that we had everything we were promised (we had to get some options installed the next week.) When you go looking for a new or used car be sure you start with Benson Honda and ask for Rob Drury and find Chelsea (trust me on this one guys). You will be glad you did and you will appreciate having them both helping you. I almost forgot to mention Kaileigh also in customer relations who helped schedule the tinting on the civic and accord. She was also very nice and patient with me, and helped me decide on the right tint darkness: tougher decision than you might think. One last thing is their brand new showroom and service dept. Everything is so nice and new, and buying a car can take some time so it's really convenient for anyone with or without children to be able to sit comfortably with free cookies, soda and coffee while waiting.
The first time I met Mr. Deluna was last year in 2010. I found his ad by doing a Google search, right away I saw that he was driving a Porsche and a shopping cart was pushed into the side of the vehicle. So with-out delay I called him up and he picked up the phone right away. Mr. Deluna explained to me that he was currently working at the BMW dealer ship located near the San Antonio Airport. He told me that he could look at the dent for me that was on my SVT Ford Focus, all I had to do was drive to the dealership to met him. After I arrived he looked at the dent told me it could be fixed, at this point I'm in doubt because I had never seen anyone fix a paintless dent. So in my mind because I'm already up-set over the dent in the first place. I decided to let Mr. Deluna proceed to fix it, by the way the dent was on the driver side door way at the top by the glass almost. So to make a long story short Mr. Deluna had done what I thought was going to end up as a bad situation needing body work to the car. The dent was removed and the original paint still intact. I gave him a hand shack paid him and left thinking that would be the end of seeing him again. Little did I know that on this date July 11, 2011, I would need his services again. This time around I had saved Mr. Deluna's web site link in my favorites and was able to contact him again right away. I told him about the damage and he accepted the challenge, this time around on my SVT Ford Focus the dent was on the passenger side center quarter panel. Mr. Deluna drove my car into his shop, to begin the repair, while I was waiting let me say that his shop was so CLEAN,, Professional Environment. I knew right away that I liked his work and his shop, so 45 minutes later my SVT was fixed no paint needed and that ugly dent was gone! Again Mr. Deluna came through with flying colors to aid me doing my time of need. With that being said I won't ever hesitate to let him work in my SVT or any car that I own. I suggest the same to you if you care anything about how your Automobile looks and take pride in having a nice looking car. Please go see him and tell him that Mr. Green sent you his way.. THE END
Just got done getting an alarm installed at Daddy's . . . they did a great job. They gave me a quote over the phone and it was the same price when I showed up for my appointment. They told me over the phone that there might be an additional expense for a part they might need, and they told me again before the work was completed. As it turned out, it wasn't needed - but I appreciated the fact they were concerned that I knew what was going on, and they didn't rip me off when they found out it wasn't needed. When I got there, I was prepared for a long wait, so I was ready to walk down the street to find a restaurant to get a bite to eat and to study. When these guys heard that, they insisted on driving me to any local place I wanted to go. They also recommended quiet places to study as well. They dropped me off and picked me up when the work was done - and they were happy to do it. And if I wanted to stay at the shop, they made it clear I was welcome there as well. When they were done, the van was clean of their work and everything looked great. They went over the functions of the alarm and made sure I was fully comfortable with it. They also made sure I was completely satisfied and actually told me to post my HONEST opinion on this site. That's easy - they did great! Their shop is ridiculously clean and neat. They make sure the showroom appears and smells nice, and it doesn't look like any car radio/alarm/tint shop I've ever seen before. The work area is very clean as well and is a place you wouldn't be embarrased to bring your kids or your wife/girlfriend, because you won't find any bikini-clad chick posters on the wall - a rarity in this business. Awesome people are at Daddy's, treating people right. They could teach lessons on proper customer service to their competitors!
I own a couple classic 35+ yr old cars that I am very picky to allow just anyone to work on. On my 1970 Camaro, my engine had been diagnosted to be replaced, I stop in the Village Parkway NAPA Automotive thinking it was a NAPA parts store to buy sparkplugs, met the owner and discussed what the car was doing and had told the owner what mechanics had previously told me , he said they would be happy to look at it and since they installed shocks I ask for them to install new fronts, excellent job.. I was impressed with the quality and the meticulous care they took of my vehicle. The best news I could hear was my engine was fine, we discussed the issues it was having in a very informative, very professional manner. He explained in details what was going on with my engine and we agreed on the repairs, since then, I have gone back several times for other repairs to my cars, I had them do a complete suspension restoration. The car rides and drives like it did in 1970. recently driving it to Georgia and back. To tell you the type of person he is, one of my cars had a starting problem at a local mall on a Sunday early evening, didn't know what to do so I called Mr. Velez on his cell, he returned my call a couple hours later, picked me up and we went to the car, he arranged for a flat bed tow truck to meet us and had the car towed to his business , put it in the shop finishing this up at midnight on a Sunday night, not many would ever do that for you. LOL , even family members would be hardpressed to do that for you. I have gotten to know the shop and Village Parkway Automotive folk in the last 2 months to know, I would NEVER consider any other automotive shop to work on my antique cars. Thank you Village Parkway NAPA Automotive.
I have been coming to this shop for about 25 years. Mr. Yang and his son are expert and thoroughly honest mechanics. They are also conservative in their approach - never recommending things be worked on unless they believe there is a clear need. Do not let the modest setting mislead you – you will get the highest quality service at a fair price at Yangs. My first car to bring here was a 1983 Honda Prelude which I drove for fifteen years until it reached 340,000 miles. I liked this car – obviously – and Mr. Yang kept it running well until I just wore it out. I then bought a used Lexus SC 300 which I drove for seven years. The car was more finicky than the Honda but Mr. Yang kept it running well until I sold it at around 180,000 miles. Finally I bought a used 1999 Lexus GS 400 which I still drive. It is because I trust the Yangs that I am comfortable driving a car that is now 14 years old. I have never felt the need for the service of the Honda or Lexus dealerships in town. While I am sure that some of the dealers offer good service, I believe that my cars have been professionally maintained at a significant savings because I have used a great independent mechanic. Furthermore, I have introduced three of my friends to Yang’s and each of them are very happy with the quality and cost of the work that has been performed for them over the last fifteen years at Yangs. Finally I am always a little uncertain about glowing reviews of small businesses but I am not related in any way to the business and my recommendation is offered in the hope that if you have an Asian vehicle that you will be happy to find an honest, fairly priced, and expert mechanic.
OMG!!! I was so amazed arriving today on 3/21/14 to pick up my vehicle after being hit on February 28 by a uninsured motorist that ran from the scene. I was really in-need of getting my 2013 kia soul bumper repaired along with other damages. My insurance agent had listed several collision repairs locations but they was too far from home, so the agent had mention service king on 736 s. w. military drive, san Antonio TX 78221. I had took my car there free of charge for a evaluation by Benny Ortega on the damages, then schedule my appointment on the 3rd of march and still having Mr. Ortega to be my advisor throughout the process of my vehicle being repaired. His services was over-the-top excellent. He kept in touch with me throughout the weeks especially calling my mother to give her the update just incase he couldn't reach me. And the receptionist Jennifer and Javier and the manager Bob McNatt and even one of the service men that was in the garage was such wonderful people that kept a positive face; and that Javier knew his cars right off the bat when he was giving me a tour of what was being done on my vehicle unlike the service man that too gave me a update. I really do appreciate this company hard work of getting my vehicle repaired in an sufficient amount of time while I was using a rental during the weeks of not having my vehicle and now I can see myself using this company in the future and referring more customers to your location. Thank you so very much and now I am a official service queen client.
I brought my brand new 2013 Escape in to have a door ding fixed. I was not having the best of luck finding a PDR tech to fix it. Recent hail storm has everyone busy. I lived with this eye sore on my body line for a month as it was a very stressed dent in my door. Can be seen at a distance and looked really bad in the sun. Desperate still I went to Google and found Dent Dawg. I told Chris my situation and asked if there were any way he could squeeze me in as I know everyone is busy but the hail storm was on Easter. This is now May. No problem bring it in. Sent him the best pic I could. Quoted me a price from the photo which matched previous site seen quotes. Other PDRs said all day job. My appt was made within 3 days and it only took an hour. Jeremy was my tech. Excellent job. Punctual, greeted me immediately, quoted me the price up front and timeline. Offered me coffee ( fresh Keurig) or soda. Handed me the tv remote so I was comfy on their clean sofa. Place is very clean which is not expected from a shop as they use a lot of grease and dirt. Has toys for kids. Great to know as I witnessed they have business with a reputable car rental co. Jeremy told me everything they did and made sure I was happy. I washed my car and I really inspected it and I can no longer see this eye sore. This is a long response but I am so happy to have received excellent service today. I love my car and take pride in it. Thanks Dent Dawg if I have any other problems I'll look you up!
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
