Women's Health Laboratories is a part of the Texas Department of State Health Services' system of laboratories and is headquartered at the Texas Center for Infectious Diseases in San Antonio. It specializes in the screening services of preventative and sexually transmitted diseases and anatomic pathology, including cytopathology and surgical pathology. The laboratory offers a range of clinical laboratory services, including maternity and family planning screenings; thyroid, cholesterol and hormone evaluations; and the usual clinical reference laboratory tests. It also provides immunology, autopsy, coagulation and transfusion medicine and urinalysis services. Women's Health Laboratories staff includes board-certified pathologists, cytopathologists, cytotechnologists, medical technologists, microbiologists, histotechnologists and laboratory personnel. In addition, it provides services for the Bureau of Clinical and Nutritional Services, Texas Health Steps, Medicaid, Medicare and South Texas Hospital.
