I will not bring my puppy back to this place. They try to over-vaccinate your dog and shoot them up with every vaccination imaginable without taking the time to inform you of which vacines are recommended and which are optional. They also gave my puppy her second round of vaccinations LESS THAN 2 WEEKS after her first round. This could be seriously damaging to her immune system because she wasn't given enough time to... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse

I bought a puppy from PetLand and in order to activate the warranty, I had to take the puppy to Smith and Shedd for an initial exam. After reading the reviews for Smith and Shedd, I have to say I was a little weary about this place. I work at a doctors office so i know the power the reviews have on a business. First off, the facility is BEAUTIFUL. Kudos to the designer! Overall my experience was very nice. I'd take m... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse
I have been using Smith & Shedd for about 3 yrs and, there are two other vet clinics much closer to where I live. I thought I had made my first appt at the clinic across the st from me, but it turned out it was Smith & Shedd. I went ahead and kept the appt at Smith & Shedd thinking that once my Pug was okay this time, I would make my next appt at the 'right' clinic. However, I was so pleased with the p... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse
Smith & Shedd Family Pet Hosptial is a WONDERFUL vet. We actually stumbled across this vet by accident but am extremely grateful we did. The office staff is always friendly and helpful. The vet we have worked with, Dr. Shedd, has always been very kind and has never made me feel rushed. We also have worked with the office manager when we had concerns about setting up a payment plan and she was very helpful a... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse
My husband and I adopted three adorable sibling kittens that needed all the works as new clients and when we called Smith & Shedd to set up an appointment. Receptionist, Donna, was very friendly and knowledgable about what would need for our initial visit. The most impressing aspect was that they e-mailed me an estimate before we arrived for our apointme. The doctor we saw was Dr. Smith and I have to say that... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes(1) No|Flag Abuse
I'd give NO star but it won't let me. BEWARE! I just got my dog neutered at Smith and Shedd and the whole experience was a nightmare. When I made an appointment for the surgery they didn't give me any information like they like to keep the animals overnight after a spay/neuter. I also had a coupon for $100.00 off the procedure, and when I first asked about it months ago Sara told me it was $150.00 for the procedur... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse
I was disappointed in this vet. I was reffered to them by a friend and had high hopes but due to unfortunate bad business techniques it hasn't gone so well. We had a high bill and no follow up from the doctors when things with our dog went bad. It's one thing to grieve a pet, it's another to have to deal with bad business practices on top of it. I would think twice about going here again. Was this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse
They are excellent if your pet has flees, an upset stomach, or something small like that, however, if you pet breaks a leg or has any other major emergency I wouldn't advise going to them. My puppy had broken his leg Thursday night, I called their after hours line. It was useless. They told us to take him to a 24 hour animal hospital. After getting him a splint and some pain medication there we called the after hours... view moreWas this review helpful?Yes No|Flag Abuse
Treatment for a severe break requiring orthepedic surgery is cage rest and pain meds until the surgery can be scheduled. Since that type of surgery is best performed by a specialist, we make the patient as comfortable as possible until the surgeon can fit the patient in for surgery. I regret to say that the story the pet owners gave was not consistent with the type of break, however, we could not prove anything. They had it repaired by the surgeon as advised, and unfortunately came back to us only two months later with ANOTHER break on the same leg. Again, their story of how the dog was injured was not consistent with the break, and because it was going to require another surgery, they opted to euthanize the dog instead. We convinced them to sign over ownership to our hospital, and with the help of staff, the specialty clinic, and the new owner, we paid for another orthepedic repair. The surgeon concluded that the injury was consistent with a kick to the leg, confirming that there was likey animal abuse taking place. We are happy to inform you that the dog is doing well and is happy in a new home.
