We opened our first location in 1986 and now have 4 locations in San Antonio and 1 in Austin.
I always get the chef's salad and hummus appetizer. GREAT food...buuuuut, they can't seem to get it together with what store delivers to my apt complex. I have even received a delivery and had the delivery guy give me a menu with another locations number on it so I could order from the "right" one. Of course, when I call the other location, I'm referred to another one. Grrr. So tonight, two people (one from each locale) claiming to be the "manager" call and basically called me crazy for the confusion. Why would I make something like this up? Anyhoo, I canceled and will be forced to be a pizza hut customer. Groan. Get it together ROMES! You lost a good customer. :(

Actually just wondering if anybody knows whether this cheese is vegetarian friendly, i.e. non-animal rennet? I haven't been yet, but I'm so hoping I don't have to be cheese free in Italy!

When I'm back home in Houston, I sell an organ for Star....now that I'm here, this is the best I've found so far! (I'm not letting myself order until I finish writing this review-torture!)\r \r Crust-Always cooked to perfection, never soggy or coated with burn freckles. The only thing missing is a wheat or grilled dough option (only reason for only 4 stars!).\r Sauce-Not 'out of a can tinny/sour tasting', not too watery, not too sweet, not too domineering.\r Cheese-Gotta work there at some point so I can figure out their mix and vendors! Best...Blend....Evah!\r Toppings-Generous, and fairly extensive.\r \r As far as their other menu items are concerned, I've rarely strayed from my usual (delish large extra cheese and greek salad), yet the Gyro calzone is a nice change of pace. Salads are always fresh (never any funky greens, briney feta, or mealy tomatoes). House Vinaigrette is a welcome semi sweet deviation from most places offering a wishbone in a packet junk mix or super cheap tasting olive oil and balsamic. I just wish they'd offer a salad for two! Each time I have ordered other menu items for friends or coworkers, there remained ZERO leftovers. \r \r The staff at the DeZavala location surpasses what I had been accustomed to with regards to 'the pizza dude' (or dudette); always having fun or faking it well, and it's pretty obvious they don't want to sell you something they wouldn't take home themselves. They like their job (most of the time I'm sure, like most of us). I can't complain about the $1.50 bottled beer special during the week; perfect for ordering takeout. After a long day's work I would much rather visit Rome's (or invite them over) than follow the herds to the corporate feeding troughs.\r \r Reasonable prices, quality FRESH ingredients, friendly staff.\r \r Thanks Rome's! Keep up the good work (and the endearing staff)! \r (Subliminal message to mgmt....everyone deserves a raise....everyone deserves a raise...)\r \r Love,\r Your transplanted pal from Houston

Best Pizza in San Antonio and the Dezavala location is less noisy and doesn't have as many screaming kids running around!
