Look elsewhere! Customer service was frustrating. Phone calls were not returned and time restraints were not honored. I was told by the sales manager that I would not have any luck finding another company in San Antonio. I found someone who could do the work the next day.

Poor Customer Service. I am still waiting for a callback after several attempts just to set up an appointment for an estimate. Needless to say, I have taken my business elsewhere.

Happy Customer

I had my fence installed just before Christmas, I am very happy with the outcome. The fence didn't move at all in the recent storms, which seemed to happen right over my house. Installation started within a week of signing the contract. I have a big garden, but the project was done in three days. The fence looks great. A couple of pickets split after installation and their quality control department had this fixed within 24 hours. I couldn't be happier with the result. The people I worked with were great. I highly recommend this company.

I do not usually write comment...

I do not usually write comments or reviews of companies. But this is the exception. I had contacted Quality Fence about getting a cedar privacy fence in my backyard. Rodney Lines was my first contact person who came out to my home. He was very professional and helped me tremendously with my decisions. All work was scheduled on time as we discussed. I did have a small issue in the beginning with the type of cedar that was being installed. This was no fault of their workmanship but it was a manufacturer defect. I have to say that after trying to figure out the best way, the gentlemen at Quality Fence went above and beyond my expectations.. They actually took down the entire fence and redid it with an upgraded cedar.!! My fence is so gorgeous wish that I could post pics! My heartfelt thanks to Mr. Rodney Lines, and Shawn who saw this through to the end. Also last but certainly not least was "Jacob". My fence installer who had a keen eye for detail and is a man of his word. I will be adding a topper on the top to give my new fence a more finished look. Anyone that is thinking about getting a privacy fence has to call Quality Fence and Welding first, you will not be disappointed. Thank you guys for all your hard work!! Sincerely, Diana Woods, 4151 Judivan, San Antonio Tx 78218.

Jumping fences

Quality fence installed our fence a few months ago and we had no problems. The fence looks beautiful and the HOA is off my rear. I called back a couple weeks ago and spoke with someone named thunder he took care of my needs and got me into the hands of another rep who came out and installed our neighbors fence also. the company has done nothing but good things for our neighborhood and for us they have placed several fences around and everyone is very happy

About building Fences

DR Horton is one of the best and most reputable builders in the San Antonio area. \r
\r
As with all builder, they specify the materials used in the fences around their new homes, that varies depending on the price bracket of the home. Fence companies comply with those requirements. However, at the time the house was built, it was possible to upgrade to just about anything you want. You would agree that with the builder at the time of purchase or building the home. Fence companies are often asked to upgrade to meet a home buyer's specific requirements.\r
\r
There are thousands of fences throughout. San Antonio the use the specifications you describe, that last many years. Left untreated any fence, whatever the materials used, will be affected by the San Antonio summer heat and humidity.\r
\r
Cedar fences are by far the best as they are more rot and weather resistant. They also look nicer. All fences, when treated and well maintained, will give many years of service and look so much better. It is worth the time and investment to do this.\r
\r
Depending in soil conditions, most fence posts, can be removed by using the top of the post (almost six feet about the ground) as leverage and moving from side to side - if fact that's the best way I know of to remove a post. Concrete should wrap around the entire post. In San Antonio, a typical fence is a solid barrier against the weather. In some weather conditions a fence can be blown down and there is very little anyone can do to prevent it. However, I can tell you, that the type of fence that is typical to this area, for the most part, hold up even on very windy days.\r
\r
2 x 4 rails are a standard used in thousands upon thousands of fences. 2 x 6 is a very uncommon choice for a rail. For the extra investment it would make a very good fence rail and all fence companies should be able to offer this upon request. But it would usually be a special purchase for them.\r
\r
You cannot buy 7 foot posts. 18 - 24 inches in the ground is a standard depth and fine for most applications. Posts are trimmed to ensure a standard height for the fence. Trimming posts is a standard practice. If you go 30 inches in the ground you may not be able to have a 6 ft fence, especially if you have a cap and trim. Galvanized steel posts are by far the best choice. As always the case, you get what you are willing to pay for or what you are able to afford.\r
\r
All posts and rails are treated. Anyone who has a fence or deck understands that with wood being a natural product some pieces will warp, even when treated (my own deck is a good example of this). If this happens in any extreme, call the fence company and they will replace.\r
\r
Five nails are always used per picket; two at the top rail, two and the bottom rail and one in the middle rail - standard practice. Any standard practice can be upgraded upon request.\r
\r
You live in a housing development that by now is more than three years old. Most fence companies will service their fences even past the one year warranty, I would suggest a call to the fence company and see if they could assist; even after warranty has expired they may still fix for you, or at least recommend the best course of action. \r
\r
If you are not happy with the fence your builders recommends, ask for an upgrade at the time your home is being built, including a fully treated fence which is easy to do, that might save the cost of replacing a fence and get you the design and specification you prefer up front.\r

Customer Satisfaction With Quality Fence

To the customer who felt the quality of their fence was not up to standard. While we do not know who you are, we are always saddened to hear that even one customer’s is not happy with our work. However we do know that we have not been to your housing development in more than 3 years, so while you seem to suggest our work was recent that is not actually the case. Having said that, even though your warranty expired perhaps more than two years ago, you need to know that we often will still perform warranty work, free of charge, even after that period, if our original work had a defect. Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction and we stand by that.

Also, please appreciate that while your review suggests you understand how fences are typically built, the specifications you suggest, while possible to comply with, are not at all typical to the San Antonio area.

We have installed many 1000’s of fences for many reputable builders in the San Antonio area and it is they who specify the materials we use and properly cared for we have many example of fences lasting well over ten years. The fences in your subdivision (the only information you gave us about your location) were a very standard design used and proven by many builders and fence companies throughout San Antonio and Texas. Even so, as the potential home owner, you could have requested, via your builder, just about anything you wanted and we would have provided that for you; although your choice of materials and design would be somewhat unique, this is something we do all the time and we would have complied exactly to your individual requirements, had you made such a request.

I would also point out that fences that are maintained properly will last for many years. Again, as a marketed leader in this area, we have many 1000’s of examples of this. Without appropriate treatment discoloration and warping are a natural and inevitable result. We could have treated your fence for you had you elected for us to do so, otherwise the choice to do so, or not, is yours, along with the consequences.

The impact of severe weather, which does affect fences in this area from time to time, is not a factor of the quality of our product. A fence is often a solid barrier to the weather and has to withstand huge forces from wind, most do so without a problem. After very severe weather we fix more of our competitor’s fences than our own.

Please understand our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. As a market leader in this area we take that very seriously. We will do everything we can to avoid a negative review, so please help us, talk to us and give us a fighting chance to provide the level of service we are committed to providing. Our contact number is: 210 545 7676. Ask for the general manager.
For the customer who received poor follow up on their order for 28 feet of fencing, I can only apologize.

Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. Based on only your description I have not been able to identify and help you directly, but anyone who is less that 100% satisfied, becomes my highest priority.

Our work ranges from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars and it is our goal to ensure each customer gets our full attention and complete satisfaction.

I would suggest that any of our customers who receive anything less than the very best customer service please call me, the general manager, directly at: 210 545 6767. I accept that such a call should never be necessary and we are working to ensure that is the case all the time, but in the unfortunate situation where you are not completely satisfied you will receive my immediate attention.

General Manager
