Practical Approach Pediatrics, Pediatric Dentistry & Pediatric Urgent Care

As you can tell by the reviews, Dr. Adetona and Practical Approach used to be awesome. Now, it's just disappointing. His knowledge and ability to make my child feel comfortable are fantastic but his professionalism and his staff are the opposite. There are long wait times (which were not the case when we started coming 4 years ago), the staff is not friendly or helpful, and the final straw in leaving - vaccines my son needs are not available. Not only are they not available, 5 weeks ago I was told they should come in within a week or two. I have been informed they have never been ordered and there is not projected order date. I am super disappointed that this office would ignore parents repeated requests (I have called 1 - 2 times a week for 5 weeks) to get her child vaccinated. I have requested 4 times for the doctor to call me and have heard nothing. The first two years at this practice and we received a call back extremely quickly. We don't feel valued and the customer service is HORRIBLE.

When I became pregnant with my first child, I knew that picking a pediatrician was going to be a very important decision for my husband and me. We selected Dr Adetona and his team at Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric dentistry after a formal interview and receiving a strong recommendation from friends. I trusted that we were putting the health of our child in very capable and caring hands from day one. What we have received in terms of care and relationship from this practice has exceeded every expectation-- including many I never knew I could or should have in a health care provider.

We receive honest, ethical, and gentle service from every member of the team every time we enter the practice. They take the time and care necessary to help my daughter and us feel comfortable, to answer all of our questions, and anticipate our needs.

We are so grateful to have one place for checkups, dental, and urgent care-- and feel so safe knowing that we can get this level of care from a reliable, friendly place when we need it most. My husband and I highly recommend this practice to you and feel confident that your children will receive the best medical care there is to offer.

His office refused to release my daughter's medical records until a $30 bill was paid. Which was a result of him lying on her medical records and saying she was sick on her visit. A visit in which he never even examined her on. She just received a shot which is supposed to be covered under preventative care. He never even saw her that day. We asked him to change it and his office refused. So they lied on the medical records to get insurance money and when confronted about it they refused to own up to it. Then on top of it all he violated HIPA by refusing to release her medical records. His office has a ridiculous late policy. We were five minutes late to an appointment and they canceled it. The next time we showed up it took him 45 minutes to see us. A bit hypocritical if you ask me. There office staff is extremely rude. They yelled at my wife on several occasions. Oh and did I mention they broke the federal law and refused to release my daughter's medical records.

WORST doctors office ever! the staff is so RUDE, spoke with a girl Bianca to schedule my daughters wellness appointment and she told me the system was in her terms "locked" due to missed appointments, cancellations, and reschedules. Which i have never cancelled or missed an appointment and that she didnt know when the system would be available to give her access to schedule, pretty much scripting or sugar coating that i would have to find a different doctor for my child, which in the end she said that. I was in shock that she didnt even try to figure out why the system gave that "message" meaning that she really doesnt care about the patients and she really shouldnt work there if she has a careless attitude. As far as scheduling an appointment because my daughter had a bad fever, really horrible cough, and runny eyes, i was told to take her to the ER because they couldnt do anything about it. What kind of doctors office is this?! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE IF YOU WANT ACTUAL CARE TO TAKE PLACE FOR THEM. THis doctor and has staff should be put out of business and join a circus, because thats what they are a joke to healthcare and children's health!!!

I selected dr. adetona to be my daughters pcp. I called about a month ago to bring her in for pink eye and they told me that they couldn't see her till five days out because she was a new pt. it was a five min appt! I already diagnosed her just needed a dr script!! I understand not making new patient appointments on the same day so I asked if I could bring her in the following day and they flat out told me no! I ended up taking her to the er. Then I tried again this week to set her up an appt due to she had a low grade fever. they advised me to go to the er. I asked if she could be seen at all and they pretty much refused to see my daughter. they told me the only way they would treat her is with a follow up from the er! I then asked if I could set up an establish patient care appointment so I wouldn't have this problem again in the future, and once more they told me no. that they don't have that type of appointment they only have sick visits and wellness visits! I was trying to initially set up a sick visit because she has already had a wellness check up this is! worst experience ever! they obviously do not care!

Really bad experience with front desk and office manager, they are not professional and clerk Nicky is rude. Right when we arrived for our appt they told us they had a problem with my insurance and dr can't see us, and when i complained, office manager basically told me without apologies that it was my fault because i did not verify my insurance before coming to the office....never in my life i had to do this with appts for me or my kids, the dr offices do this for you....too bad! Dentist is ok but front staff is terrible and i m not coming back.

So I took my daughter in to get seen because she was extremely congested and was gasping and gagging for air. "Dr" adetona came into the room to take a look at her, he made me feel like I was wasting his precious time first off then as I continued to explain to him her symptoms he would cut me off and say that I was not suctioning out her boogers and I was! Then he suctioned out her boogers using saline and said to me "THERE! YOU SEE MOM THAT'S ALL YOU NEEDED TO DO!" He didn't test her for the flu or rsv and I KNEW she had something more I know my daughter and for him not to test her for the flu or rsv rubbed me the wrong way. He then told me that it had to run its corse and to continue to give her tylenol and motrin and that within time and tlc she'll be better.....BULL!! I went to urgent care 2 days later and she tested positive for the flu AND had to be admitted to the hospital. If he was the so called "Dr." He would have seen something was wrong with her from the first look at her. Now my daughter is in the hospital going through breathing treatments and under hospital observation. WARNING!! DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SO CALLED DR. Now my daughter is miserable and in the hospital all because I listened to his bull

Do not take your kids here. The receptionist is very rude. If you do triple check your appointment time as they will change it on you when you arrive and tell you to come back at a later date. They see you kids as a number not a person.

My daughter loves Dr. Adetona. She takes her time with the kids as well as explaining to the kids the importance of taking care of their teeth. This is the only pediatric office that calls to wish the patients a Happy Birthday. I totally recommend Practical Approach Dentistry!!!!!!!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

HAVING MOVED TO SAN ANTONIO A FEW MONTHS AGO WAS NOT AN EASY TRANSITION, BUT FINDING A PEDIATRICIAN AND DENTIST FOR MY BOYS WAS WHAT WORRIED ME THE MOST. WE FOUND OUT ABOUT PRACTICAL APPROACH PEDIATRICS AND PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY AND I ASSURE YOU IT WAS BY FAR THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER. MY BOYS ENJOYED THEIR VISITS WITH BOTH THE DOCTORS AND EVEN TOLD OUR RELATIVES ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE AT THE CLINIC. I ADMIRED THE FACT THAT THE DOCTORS AND STAFF EXPLAINED TO MY BOYS WHAT PROCEDURES/TREATMENTS THEY WERE GOING TO PERFORM ON THEM (ONE EXAMPLE: VITALS - MY BOYS WERE GETTING READY TO CRY WHEN IT WAS EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THE CUFF WAS JUST GOING TO CHECK THEIR MUSCLES…I KNOW THAT IS NOT TRUE BUT TO A 4 YEAR OLD CHILD THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE). NOW I DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY BOYS BEING AFRAID OF GOING FOR ANOTHER VISIT.

**DR. (MR) ADETONA- IF IT WERE UP TO MY BOYS THEY WOULD GO VISIT YOU EVERYDAY FOR MINOR BUMPS AND BRUISES THAT THEY GET. THANK YOU FOR MAKING SURE THAT MY BOYS STAY HEALTHY.

Don't take your child here. The sound of terror in my little girls screams still echo in my mind. This dentist is brutal; there is no way she should work on children. She pulled out teeth that were not numbed by anesthetic by not waiting long enough for it to work (she pulled the teeth right after the shot, which by the way, she also gives in a fast and brutal way, instead of slowly like a true pediatric dentist would). She pulled two crowns that didn't need to be pulled, mistaking the 6 year molars for abscesses. After the debacle we purchased the spacers that still needed to be placed and went back to our old dentist. Understand that we had changed dentists because we changed insurance. Our experience here was so bad we were willing to pay out of pocket to go back to our old dentist and ignored the $1100 we had already paid to have the entire procedure. Even after we explained how bad we felt, their office was still giving us a hard time, taking a week to FAX a form we needed, even after multiple calls. We trusted this dentist with our child, based on her "pediatric" background and she let us down terribly. Ignore this review at your peril; you can never take a horrible dental experience back after your child has been traumatized.

The doctors are wonderful here and very considerate staff. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. The doctors show true concern for your children and are very gracious. They made my son and daughter feel very comfortable every time we go. And how wonderful to take care of dental and checkups at once! I recommend to all my friends and families that i work with.

Doctors Adetona are wonderful. They have set up a first-class office and I am so glad to have found them. Dr. Adetona, the pediatrician took my call (to his cell phone!) on a Sunday morning and met us at the office when my son had strep. I was truly amazed and impressed. The doctors, and their staff are very caring people who make my son feel comfortable and special. I would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone! I only wish I was young enough so I could become their patient!

The doctors & staff are super friendly & genuinely care for you & your little ones. New & state-of-art facility and tools/equipment. Doctors Adetona and their kids are a wonderful family. They are a christian and spiritual bunch who never forget to is ultimately in charge, our creator, the great I Am, our Lord God. It is truly a great experience. :)

Please look them up on FB, go to their website, or even come by the practice for a personal tour & meet and greet with the Doctors Adetona. *Open M-F till 5pm, and even half day on Saturday! *On-site emergency care (sutchers, IV fluids, much more) *24 hour emergency call line (speak directly to a doctor not an answering service) *sports physicals *immunizations *Routine dental check-ups *emergancy dental care ***AT PAP&PD YOU BECOME PART OF A FAMILY NOT A NUMBER*** The doctors and staff are very caring and hardworking. I can say so many great things, but to experience this new-age "practical approach" to your child's care is an experience words cannot explain.

My boys enjoy going to practical approach. The staff makes us feel at home and cared for. It is practical, comfortable and professional. The facilities are new, and modern. Thanks for providing the best for my boys!

Excellent visit! My kids didn't want to leave. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, both over the phone and in person. Not to mention the convenience of having both doctors and dentists in one appointment! Wish every doctor's visit was this great. I recommend this group without reservations. Keep up the good work Practical Approach!

For me and my 3 children these three words best describe Practical Approach Pediatric doctor and Pediatric dentist - CARING, COMPASSIONATE and COMPETENT! To Drs Adetona and their team, you are more than a patient. Your are a person they truly care for with great expertise. I highly recommend their 5-star practice to EVERY parent!
