Horrible experience with this shop. I was home on leave and needed some leaks and front suspension fixed. So took my car to them since they were close to the place I was staying at. But I was less then satisfied with the service. First off they told me they would have my car done in 10 days and they had it for 15. I was only home for 16 days so I had to borrow cars from family longer then planned. Second they told me it would be about $2000. But once I got the bill it was $2600 almost ...view more$2700. Third they kept calling me up asking if I could get them parts for the car. I mean you're a auto shop, You would think you'd kept some local car part shops info on hand and not just napa or autozone. And lastly I they did not tighten down my valve covers tight enough. So under my hood, oil is everywhere and all uder my car too. I was given such terrible service today that I feel everyone should know about the bad customer service given at Potranco Automotive. Please beware!!!
I dropped my car off at 11:30 specifically asking for boot, CV joint, and strut inspection due to a grinding noise when turning. I was informed that there are only 2 oil changes in front me, so they will get to my car within the hour. Three hours! later, the mechanic called saying there isn't a popping noise he could reproduce (Come...view more to find out, the intake receptionist wrote down "inspect suspension for popping noise"), but he fixed a grinding noise coming from the rotors. I did not give him permission to do any repairs, and I specifically asked them to not do anything without my permission so I thought this was a nice quick service he provided. Lo and behold, I was wrong.
When I finally called at 4:20 asking what the status of the car is, I was told that he just got done inspecting the struts. Struts are bad, but I said I'll come back for the repair since they couldn't get it fixed till tomorrow afternoon. When I asked about the time the courtesy shuttle would come get us, he said that I needed to find a ride. Upon pressing it telling him I was told the shuttle ran till 5:30, he said he'll call when they're on their way. Half hour later, ring at the doorbell with no warning of their arrival.
Arriving at the shop, I asked if the diagnosis fee would apply toward the strut replacement when I return. I was informed no because that was something they found (sketchy policy but that's the way it is there). After reminding them of the conversation I had a check-in, the manager said it's not on the paper so no. I asked to speak with the person who checked me in, and while waiting for him I asked why it took 3 hours for my car to be seen when I was told an hour. Very rudely, the manager said "we have a lot of business here" and walked away. After confirming that yes, I specifically asked them to inspect the struts, everyone ignored the question about the diagnosis fee and asked for payment. After reading the explanation of charges, I found I was being charged for unbending the rotor plate. Yes, I contested it. I was told the work was done, so they need to be paid for it. After explaining I specifically requested a phone call before repairing anything, I'm not paying for it. Especially since, I told him, that this is something I would do myself at home, which is one reason I requested them to ask permission first. After a long argument, they finally agreed to only charge me the diagnosis fee, but of course making up for it by charging me an erroneous $7 supply charge, which is supposedly a percentage of labor. Apparently, their percentage is 10%.
After all is said and done, I will not be going back. I do not trust them to not swindle or provide good customer service.view less
Potranco Automotive has gone downhill fast! Potranco Automotive cheated me on a brake job (front and back). Potranco Automotive put the wrong oil in my car! Potranco Automotive does not stand by their garantee! I tried to use the $9.95 coupon for an oil change on their website and they said it was 9.95 for the oil...not the labor! I told my 1970 Chevy Impala for State Vehicle inspection on Thursday afternoon was told I would be called on Friday Morning. 10:00 AM Friday, no call;.... no call at noon, at 2:00 PM, I was told i was #6 in line, to call back at 5:00.
