If all you care about is ""fly hair"" then stop reading!
Where is ""Tabitha's Salon Takeover"" when you need it?! It is apparent that Mane and Glory is on the cusp of greatness, but is in need of a major overhaul! My service, shampoo, steam treatment and ceramic phusion on natural hair, should have taken a maximum of 2.5 hours. I WAS IN THAT SALON FOR 5 HOURS and I had an 1.5 hr WAIT UNTIL I WAS SAT AT THE SHAMPOO BOWL. I stayed only because I had an event to attend the next day. However, I did miss my class due to the salon's lack of time management. Another customer was in the salon from 11:30 am to 9 pm! Her stylist was so behind that she called her husband to bring their daughter to the salon to get her hair styled as well. No water, no food, for far too long!!!!!!!! Black salons are known for this type of inconsideration, but I have never given my business to such an establishment, until now.
Two hours after I checked in, I received an apology from the receptionist that they were short staffed. I should have been told that crucial piece of information when I checked in and then I could have made an informed decision to stay or leave.
I made my appointment online and was pleased that Mane and Glory appeared to be a progressive establishment. The online booking system gives an option for ""new client,"" which I selected. This should have immediately flagged me in the system and notified the stylist. I had questions about my hair damage and only saw the stylist when I made a request while at the shampoo bowl (2 hours after checking in). I should have seen the stylist first for at least 5 minutes. It's just that simple. She acted as if her only job is to style hair. WRONG ANSWER! A stylist's job is to partner with clients to create a win-win dynamic by sincerely asking/answering hair questions, educating clients and styling hair. My stylist was not interested in having a basic conversation about my hair and giving helpful feedback/solutions. She was more concerned with talking to co-workers, treating her clients like cattle, checking off a list and getting everyone in and out of the salon.
DECOR: Not as polished as I thought it would be; Unfinished floors; improper seating for hair steamers (a grown woman should not have to ""climb"" on top of pillows and balance in position to use a hair steamer)
STAFF: Not knowledgeable about products that harm natural hair (i.e. parabans, sulfate), simple tricks like using cold water to close the hair cuticle in order to banish fly away hair, and does not explain processes to new clients who are trying new services for the first time.
PROS: I was not drenched in water at the shampoo bowl, steam treatment results, and the look/feel of my hair as I walked out of the door.
