I took my Cats to Dr. Ehrlund & her husband (now deceased) as a child and loved the care that they both showed especially when one of my cat's kittens had a condition that they couldn't treat that required us taking him to the vet school. I've recently reconnected w/ them and Dr. Ehrlund is just as wonderful now as she was then!!

I know that there are some reviews on the web that are negative about her but I think some of that may have to do with a VERY SELECT FEW of her office staff.

Beyond that, once you talk, CALMLY & RATIONALLY about any problems that you may have, Dr. Ehrlund is MORE THAN WILLING TO LISTEN & WORK OUT A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM!!

Recently when our youngest cat cut her right (wrist) front paw VERY DEEPLY during a time when we had some financial difficulties, she worked things out with me so that she adjusted the treatment course so that Patches still got the necessary treatment to allow the deep wound to heal but did so w/o hitting my pocketbook too hard!

I did have a small problem with one of her office staff when I came back to pick Patches up but as I wrote earlier, once I talked privately, CALMLY & rationally to Dr. Ehrlund, she took care of the problem and spoke with the staff member so that that problem wouldn't happen with anyone else again!

I think that much of the negative reviews on the web about Dr. Ehrlund are WAY OVERBLOWN. She really is an EXCELLENT VET who has been in continual practice in NW San Antonio for the last 30 years!!

WARNING DO NOT USE THIS VET; this vet office is covering for Kay's Kutz across the street. On May 1, 2014 we had a grooming appointment with Kay's Kutz across the street. When pet was picked up, we were "escorted" to this vet office to check pet out as he seemed lethargic. Pet was also favoring right front leg. Arrived, and receptionist exclaimed, "he's back!". WTF? Our pet was given medical treatment due to an injury from Kay's Kutz and an attempt to "cover it up" was in play because pet was already sedated from this office without our consent or knowledge. Then the Vet was extremely unprofessional and unapologetic, as if the condition was already in place before we took the pet in to be groomed. KEEP YOUR PETS AWAY FROM THIS VET. Full review of groomer in YP as well. The stance that the Vet took upon us entering clued me in on her covering up for someone's negligence; with the added belligerent attitude and unprofessionalism, it sure seems like she was in a hurry to get us on our way.

I’ve been taking my dogs to see Dr. Ehrlund and Dr. Wright for over a year now. Both of them are very knowledgeable and friendly. I started using them when I couldn’t get my dog into one of the large area clinics so I stopped in and got an appointment with them. My dog has had epilepsy, but was still having seizures on the medication. The doctors here understood the situation and switched him to a drug that is not only generic (less expensive), but doesn’t require expensive blood tests every 6 months. Since then, he has not had any more seizures. I’m forever grateful to them for helping us. They really do focus on the care of my pets instead of the bottom line!

On a recommendation i went to ...

On a recommendation i went to Dr Eurland. Had no problems, I felt she cared and understood as I am a doggie foster. No hoops just good care. I thought! About a year ago she kinda chastized me re: Costs for fostering. She told me she would get me in contact with a group that had funds. Never happened... Then I took in a foster with heart worms. I had talked with serveral people re: a slow kill method. Due to her advanced state I belived this would be, Yes longer but safer. I called her office and asked if they did this method, I was put on hold... Dr Eurland came on the phone and informed that yes she would treat Penny, but her statement was "this was "the poor mans treatment" I don't care. Then again I needed her servies. My 13 yr old LA had a life altering seizures. When I took her in they where kind and did what I have experianced over so many years. Then, The reason for this review. 2 weeks ago I called and explaiened Gizmos condition. He was brought to me when he was 12 years old, his owner had passed and no one in the family wanted a blind 12 yr old dog. I took him in 6 years ago. I have carried him in & out for the last 3 years. Ate well, let me know when he needed something. He has slept in my bedroom for the last 2 years. In the last 2 weeks his health has been failing. I never will let him or any of my dogs suffer. So I called the clinic again on Fri and told them I wanted to spend this weekend with him. By Monday he was not getting better. I called on Wed to make the Arrangements, gave them instructions and CC info. The appt was made for Fri between 4 & 5 pm. pulled into the parking lot, in tears. I called and asked if they had a room for me? after several mins I was told yes, and to come on in. I was led to a room with a nice red doggie pad. What happens over the next few minutes astonded and horrified me. My poor Gizmo..2 Techs came in with clipper, one held Gizmos leg as the other procedded to shave his leg, I'm like "what are you doing?" we are placing this port so as to make sure a vein is found and helping the Vet to administer the injection. I'm asking why are we doing this? I need Dr Eruland now. Her deminor was so lackluster, I am sick that I took him there. The techs even flushed his port. What the F. After the injection his heart was stll beating 8 to 10 mins later. I will never go to this dr again and I pray you don't either. Plus she charged me $20 more than the last and Shelby was bigger, But at least she did it the right way.

We are very sorry for the passing of your beloved pet, Gizmo. Euthanasia is always a difficult decision, but sometimes it is the last compassionate thing you can offer. Often pet owners prefer to be present during the procedure and we respect and allow that. However, pet owners that are not in the medical field may have some confusion as to why we take certain precautions. Pets that are euthanized at HVMC will have a catheter placed into a vein in their forearm. This is a safety precaution to prevent any of the medication from being injected outside of the vein if the pet were to flinch during the injection process. The result would be a painful stinging sensation and a failure to deliver the complete dose. This would be considered inhumane. To facilitate this process, a small patch of hair is clipped to allow visualization of the vessel under the skin and a catheter is gently placed and taped to the arm. Our goal is always to make the final momements as comfortable as possible for a beloved pet and their owner.

Where should i begin? i can see that i'm not the only one the Doctor is extremely rude to. But it doesn't stop there. They are over priced and below average service. The staff seams Incompetent . I have tried going to this clinic several times and its with the same results. I have found a new clinic FURTHER away from me but it is well worth the gas it takes to get their.

So in case you didn't hear me the first time here it is in a nut shell. The Doctor is rude, staff is rude, staff is Incompetent , over priced EVERYTHING.

i wish i could giver zero stars

sick puppy

I dropped by and they fit my sick puppy in right away. They gave me quotes for everything they may have to do and ask for approval before doing anything. It gives me a great piece of mind knowing I won't be ripped off in time of need.
