I read the great reviews and I was excited about having a group lunch here with my coworkers.
I called the restaurant several times trying to ask questions about the menu and to reserve tables but I nobody would answer the phone.
I had to call a store nearby and ask them if Goro’s was still open. They said they thought they were closed. So, we had to go to Zushi Sushi instead.
I tried calling a few times later and FINALY got someone to answer. I asked the person what time they opened and she confirmed the time on the webpage. (11a) I tried to inform her that I had trouble getting through when I called previously. Her only response was, “We open at 11am.”
I won’t make lunch plans there again but I’m still curious if it is as good as the reviews. I will only go back if I happen to be near it during lunch. (Not likely.)
I love goro! it's at the top of my list! the staff is great and helpful, the food is wonderful, they have a wide variety and the over all atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. By far it's one of the best sushi places in town!! I recommend it to all of friends and family!

I should've known - this place had good ratings and reviews but they're all outdated. Here's a recent one for you. I always go to Sushi Zushi so my boyfriend and I decided to try someplace new. When you walk in, you sit yourself - which I didn't mind. A first glance at the menu may appear impressive because the prices are below average. I had the squid seaweed salad for an appetizer which was very good. After that, I was served miso soup and salad which was unexpected but a delight. However, the soup was very bland. This was the start of the downhill. Our rolls came out along with the nigiri order and hand rolls. The fish is not fresh and there is way too much rice in the rolls which makes you full off of the rice and not the fish. It was nothing what I expected based on the reviews I read. When we were done eating, we waited and waited for our waiter to come by to give us our check (who by the way, never came by to check up on us during our meal). The food made us very sleepy so when we got home, we knocked out and fell asleep. This makes me believe they may put preservatives in their fish! It could have also been the packing of the rice in our rolls. I give it a 2 because if all you care about is the price and not at all about the quality and taste of the fish & food, you should definitely come here.

Visited Goro's because of all the great reviews. MUST go to happy hour 5-7 pm. Nigiri sushi varies from $1.00-1.50. Only drawback is that there is not as much variety on the sushi rolls as other restaurants and we did not find any handrolls. Whole scallop nigiri is much better than the regular scallop nigiri (tasted a bit like onion paste). Waitstaff was prompt and very helpful especially since this was our first time.

I have been going to Goro's for about 2 years now, and I absolutely love it. I was a little squemish at first, but in talking to Goro himself, he made me feel at ease and had some recommendations as to what to try as a first timer. The atmosphere is excellent, the staff is friendly and informative. I highly recommend Goro's for the beginner as well as the professional sushi eater.
