Attended training at hotel. Truck was stolen from parking lot during the day course. Police say the hotel is hit all the time and suspect a "spotter" works there. A worker related it "happens all the time" and allegedly, "14 times in one weekend". Despite known problems, hotel has no security cameras monitoring the parking lot. They only post signs saying lock valuables, cars, hotel not responsible for damage or theft. A few signs saying "premises under video surveillance" and a few cameras, even if dummies could go a long way. Management was only worried about covering themselves with paperwork, contact info from the police, etc. Not one person came to me and asked how I was doing, appologized - anything. If you want your car stolen, park it at the San Antonio Airport Doubletree. I recommended to the Army they discontinue using this hotel for giving seminars due to property and personal safety. While I was waiting for my rental car, I noticed a two man panhandling operation going on in the parking lot and adjacent frontage road. I called the police but nobody came in the hour and a half I was waiting. I'll tell management about it tomorrow but they probably don't care. DO NOT STAY HERE OR ATTEND TRAINING HERE. Your property and potentially your person could be in danger.
