The people below my comment do not know what they are saying. I was raised full latino this is real authentic Mexican food not cheap "Mexican" food that most of you all eat. Had the people under me been raised latino they would like it. I have a great experience every time I go. I will always be a fan of Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant. I may look like I don't know Mexican food but believe me I do.

BAD SERVICE AND FOOD

We went to celebrate mom's birthday and we had the worse experience. It started with our frozen margarita's not close to being frozen and they did not taste good. Beer was hot and they took forever with our order. When the food finally arrived we were missing some borracho beans and guacamole. When we asked the waiter he blamed the mistake on us!! He argued with us and was rude! Have you heard of customer service!! I guess not! The manager came to the table and i swear he was more incompetent than the waiter. Then the waiter took about 15 minutes trying to process our credit card. Stupid waiter sucked! Overall the service sucks, food not worth the prices and the environment is loud! Walked out with upset stomach and a headache. They ruined what should have been a special birthday dinner. Never going back to this restaurant.

Overall
bad experience

We visited Don Pedro on the south side of An Antonio on Friday 4/2/09 and the building looks nice but the management is bad and the food is not as good as the reviews say. I ordered the nacho plate and enchilada plate the nachos were delicious the enchiladas were cool and hard tortillas were used to make them. I had not seen our waiter so I went looking for the manager, and let him know how I felt about the food and said I did not want to pay the 15% gratuity because my guest were having to get their own tea refills and the waiter was no were to be found. He said that's no problem we will remove the plate and remove gratuity I thanked him and went back to table. When we were ready to leave we received the check and the plate was still on the ticket. I said to the waiter the manager was going to remove off ticket the waiter said no you already ate some off the plate so you have to pay. I offered to pay for the other plates but not the bad plate. The manager said no I was only going to remove the gratuity only and I should have let the waiter know at the time I received the plate this was a complete 360 from the attitude he gave me as I was describing the problem 15 min earlier. I again said I am only going to pay for what we have eaten and I said was leaving at this time the manager called the police. I asked for the owners phone number so I could call him or her in the morning so they could know how they are treating the customers he introduced me to some one claiming to be the owner, he also said I had to pay for the plate I mentioned that I would tell all who would listen about my experience he said so what and he did not need customers like me . After about 30 min going back and fourth the manager changed his attitude and said I am here to help you let me take the plate off ticket my wife then paid for the order and we left, All of this over a 6.99 plate I will never return and I will share this bad experience with as many people as possible.

General Info
Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant has become a Southside institution since opening its' doors in 1968. Operating for over 40 years, the restaurant currently employs more than 150 full and part time workers serving over 12,500 customers on average per week. Don Pedro has added a new 3800 square foot dining room with a full bar, bringing the total seating capacity to 350 guests. Owned by the Sepulveda family, Ruben Sepulveda Sr. started as a waiter along side his wife, Leticia, head chef in the kitchen, after arriving in San Antonio with their three young sons in 1972 from Monterrey, Mexico. In Monterrey, the couple had owned a 200-cattle dairy farm and had dreams of a better life for their children in the United States. When more than one half of their cattle succumbed to disease, the Sepulveda family decided the time was ripe for the move to the U.S. Just six years later in 1979, the dream of a better life became more of a reality when they became full owners of Don Pedro.
