Our Stop!

Chuy's is great! If your visiting San Antonio or looking for a new place to go for something different this is the place to try. We like the Carne Montada and I think it is the special on Thursday nights you have to try it.

my 71st birthday at Chuy's..

My husband and i have been eating at your place ever since it opened, and have loved the food, it was our favorite place for Mexican food, we always took visitors to your place from out of town.. the food was so good... since we do live so far away we save it for special times.... We went there on my birthday this year, July 15, 2008 and i have never been so disappointed .. i even cried.. i was looking forward so much for a great Mexican food dinner and what i got was a big shock... the food was terrible... i had the chicken chalupas that and your mexi cob salad were my favorites... the chicken what there was of it , 2 little pieces on one Chalupa's had no taste at all, even the beans were tasteless.. the tortilla on the bottom was hard and i took the food off the tortilla and ate it as sort of a salad... as seniors now we have to watch our food and our money... and with the price up and the taste down it was a real disappointment... i finally said something to my husband , and he agreed that his enchiladas were not the same as they had been... when i told the server, he said ,well each chef has his own way of cooking...." i ate what i could as i could not afford to waste the money... later i was talking to a friend of mine and she and her friend had been to your place a couple of weeks before and found the same tasteless food... she did not say anything as she thought maybe it was just her... but her friend was not happy either.. so i just want you to know that we all 4 of us now will not be coming to your place anymore.... you had such great food for so long, if you have reason for this sudden change i would surely love to hear it..... it ruined my birthday, so i will have to have another birthday dinner at some other place, i guess it will be back to the Alamo Cafe or Mia Terra;s ..

Great Tex-Mex with an Austin Nuance

I love this place. The food is delicious. It has an idiosyncratic Austin feel. For example, they wrap their silverware in sealed wax-paper sleeves and the waitstaff is virile and youngish, attentive college types. Chips are light, not greasy, and you have a choice of salsas. I love the fresh cut salsa made with tiny bits of tomato, jalapeno, onion, etc. It's delicious and tastes fresh, organic. Ask for the ""Boom Boom"" sauce (it's a delicious cheesy dip used in some of their entrees).

I always order the veggie enchiladas. Spanish rice is very good.

This is great Tex-Mex food with an organic Austin nuance. Great margaritas. The patio is small, but if you chance to get there on a breezy evening, it's worth waiting to sit outside.

Nothing special

Their chips & salsa weren't bad but definitely not good. The food wasn't worth mentioning. Never had their margaritas. Our waiter was horrible. I would not recommend eating here. After all, there are many good Mexican places here in San Antonio.

To Go

Definitely recommend ordering To-Go, great quality and presentation without the wait!

yummy

I loved this restaurant in Austin and was pleased that a location was opened nearby in San Antonio. Food is consistently good. It is also fun to sit and eat chips/salsa and drink margaritas.

Only place in town with Green Chili...

I moved here from Colorado, and was very bummed at Texas' version of Mexican food--but then I found Chuy's!! It's okay, I can stay here now... they not only have the green chili that I love, but two different versions of it, regular and Hatch green chili sauce... the food is great, the service is great, the only bad thing is that there is usually a pretty big wait, no matter what night you go. I guess that they just need to open more of them!

Great overall Texas experiance!

The thing I like best about Chuy's are the Texas Martini's. If you never had a stuffed olive before you've got to try the Texas Martini. Too bad there aren't more Chuy's in San Antonio. You can travel all over Austin and run into one! This one is inconvinently located on a busy intersection near 281 and 1604. It's the worst to try to get there before 6 pm for happy hour drinks! The food, atmosphere, and drinks are well worth the wait. If you are looking for something different try the shrimp releno. They have a pretty good veggitarian selection too, try the guac soft tacos. I also recommend ordering the creamy jalapeno sauce when they drop off your chips, it's on request only!
