Our little boy is 5 months old and we

Our little boy is 5 months old and we selected Dr. Donnel as our pediatrician before he was born (took a chance). He is AWESOME! Extremely knowledgeable and has a great answer for every question we have (even the dumb first-time parent ones). He actually shows compassion for our son and takes his time with him. The office is very clean and inviting. My only complaint about the practice is the wait time. It is quite long (45 minutes to an hour before you actually see the doc), but Dr. Donnel is well worth the wait! I would recommend Dr. Donnel to anyone.

The Best!

I feel obligated to write a review after seeing the negative ones. We have been going to Dr. Donnel for three years and he is amazing. Every time we go in for a well check he takes his time with the appointment. I never feel rushed in the least. I am constantly asked if I have any questions or concerns, we have a conversation about my child and it's just everything that I never thought a doctor would be. Sure, he is very cautious, but as a mother of four, how can I want anything less for my children?! We have experienced terrible wait times before, but the most recent time that happened was over a year ago and the doctor felt terrible for it and apologized profusely. Honestly, I enjoy the fact that he makes sure to take his time with me and I am sure he does the same for his other patients. I don't usually mind waiting and if you want a doctor that doesn't care and rushes you in and out as quickly as possible then perhaps this is not the office for you (I have been to those offices and I would take this one any day!) To avoid the waiting issues I schedule my appointments before 11am. I have never had to wait at all when I go before that time. If you are looking for a great doctor you have found him. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Donnel.

terrible front desk staff

Front desk doesn't have their act together as far as customer service, record keeping and billing. Very disorganized and lots of clerical/billing errors. This makes a trip to the doctor there very unpleasant! Unfortunately!

Terrible Wait Time - Terrible Service

RUDE - RUDE - RUDE

Several years ago (I believe 2008 and 2009) I walked out of this office due to wait time. I was moved from the waiting room after an eternity and then waited just as long in the back room to see the doctor. On one occasion my child was crying and asking me to just take her home because we had waiting so long. I walked out and took her to the MedClinic down the street. Fast forward to 2010 and I was told things had improved so I made an appointment for my daughter in March of this year. She was seen within a reasonable time frame and I was pleased thinking that their customer service was better. I called the office today (8 months after our last appointment) and was told someone would call me back. I waited about 2 hours and called again only to be told that someone tried to call me -mind you I have two cells and a work phone and I have NO messages on any of my phones. After being placed on hold I was then told, ""Your child has been terminated."" When I asked what they meant I was put on hold again and another person told me that two years ago I wrote a letter about their service and I had walked out of two appointments so the doctor terminated my service. I asked the employee to verify that my daughter was seen in 2010. What do you know - she was seen in March 2010!! They terminated my daughter after March 2010 --more than a year after I wrote to the doctor explaining the TERRIBLE service I had received. I explained to the employee today that the crummy customer service was on their part and not mine! The employee was a little dumb founded and couldn't explain how they could use the letter I wrote and me walking out of two appointments so long ago as the reason for ""terminating"" my daughter when they saw her in 2010!!! Lousy service once again! The doctor is rude to think that only his time is important. I'd like to see the doctor wait two hours for a patient and see how gracious he is or have his sick child crying, begging him to take her home because she feels so awful and can't lay on the table anymore. Walking out after well OVER AN HOUR shouldn't be considered poor behavior on my part but rather terrible service on theirs. This office has permanently lost a customer and if they continue with this terrible service I'm sure they'll continue to lose more!

overly cautious doctor, long wait times,

God forbid you mention something and even answer your own question! You will be billed for an office visit instead of a well check just because you may have said, ""I didn't bring him in for this cold because I knew there was nothing that could be done about it"" cha ching, they are going to bill you for that comment. Also very overly cautious, if your child has a mosquito bite, a red flag will be raised. Had to wait an hour and half just to get the flu vaccine. They had no appointments for well checks until a month out. There is no real separation between well and sick children. Rude staff. I'm changing doctors after being on a downhill ride for the last two years. Very disappointed

Ridiculous staff

I expect great customer service whenever I step into a pediatricians office. I've been to other offices with great staff and this is not one of them. The pediatricians are great, they take thier time with the patient, cover all steps needed to improve conditions in easy to understand doctor lingo. Today, a clipboard was literally thrown to me so I could update demographics, then come to find out, there are no available flu shots, after being told 2 days prior that the vaccine would be available if we made appointment at that time. THEN, they wanted to charge a copay for the H1N1 shot, when my plans covers all cost, vaccine and administrative fees 100%. This staff member told me that she is going by what the insurance told her, I requested she speak to the rep. I was talking to and she outright refused. Needless to say, after the way I was treated, I left, without my son getting his shot. I called later and spoke to a ""supervisor"" after being told that there was none, but I was being persistant. This woman didn't want to hear me out. Kept interrupting me, doubting the poor customer service given, and once I asked her why she was a supervisor if she wasn't willing to hear what happened, she got defensive and said "" I am ending this phone call"" and hung-up. Are you serious? DON'T GO THERE, there are plenty of good Pediatricians in the area, where the service is much better. I have given this place 1 too many opportunities and today was the icing on the cake. I ended up getting my son a shot last minute at my daughters pediatricians office, only after hearing of my situtation at other office, they felt terrible. And it was cost free!...I'm kinda thinking that this office is scheming patients. I'm thinking that they booked the appt to get me in there knowing they had the H1N1 shot, but not the seasonal flu shot, knowing that would be a seperate appt, therefore....2 copays? Hmm...this isn't over yet until I speak to one of the doctors. I am sure they wouldn't be happy with this service.

More Trouble than they are Worth

From the first visit, when we moved 1+ yrs ago, I was sized up to see how many office visits they could get from me. My son takes medicine that without it he doesn't function. This requires an annual visit and a script picked up once a month. The monthly scripts have been a nightmare because they have repeatedly let my son run out even though I call 7+ days in advance. The final straw came when I had follow up behind them AGAIN and was told that they had to see him before they would write his script. I don?t respond well to my child's health being held for ransom so they can charge for an extra visit. He had been in for his annual visit 6 months ago. They said that didn?t count because they didn?t do the physical. My response was why didn't the doctor do whatever he had to do and why wasn?t I called about the problem with his script? Got their stock excuse of wrong phone# written down. They decided they would write the script if I set up an appt. Fine. Done right then. Late that night the nurse left a message saying they were not going to write him a script unless he set up an appointment. The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing with these people. If this was the first time I would have been ok but it has just been one long screw up with them.

If you want a doctor for your child that truly cares about your child's health over lining their own pockets, keeps accurate health records for decisions or you have a child that needs anything over medicine for a basic sniffle or vaccination then these people are not for you.

If you like having to take off work to make multiple visits when one is sufficient, like having to constantly chase behind their staff to get them to do their job, like the drama of constant screw ups, like sitting in a waiting room (might be 30 minutes but could just as easily be an hour or more), like the feeling of your child's health being used to strong arm you, like being talked to in a condescending manner then call these people.

Horrible Wait Times

I just got home from this office and after almost 2 hours- I finally was able to get my daughter's flu shot. I am not sure what took so long to get a flu shot, but 2 hours is just unacceptable especially for a 2 1/2 year old. I do like both of the physicians, but just can not deal with the wait times anymore. This is also not my first experience with waiting so long in this office- something needs to be done! Sorry, but I will be finding another physician.

The Best Pediatricians in the area

We followed Dr. Clay-Flores from Tejas Pediatrics because he was literally the only doctor my son had seen that he felt comfortable with (he was 10 mnts old at the time in 2004). Now I have 3 boys, my oldest is 8yrs now and the youngest is 2 months. They have been seen by both Dr. Donnell and Dr. Clay Flores and I couldn't ask for better doctors.

They are both very cautious doctors and take time in making a diagnosis. They weigh heavily on what parents feel and say in regard to the seriousness of the child's ailment. I appreciate that especially w/antibiotics. They aren't always necessary but Dr. Donnell has prescribed them in the past when he asked if it would make me feel more comfortable.

If you are worried about wait times then try to make and keep an appointment. When you get squeezed into a busy schedule you just have to expect a wait and thank God they take walk ins, most docs don't. As for the staff, well bad staff happens at every doctor you just have to be prepared for it and know that you are there to see the doctor not just his staff. I have never witnessed the staff problems that other people on this site have mentioned nor have I ever had my well check changed to a sick appoint just for asking questions about a symptom and been billed differently and again, we have seen them for over 8 years.

Our third son was born in January and had to spend a week in the NICU. We listed Dr. Donnell as our Pediatrician and were told that he had to evaluate our son before he could be released. The same day that the hospital contacted him I got a call from him to talk about my new son and get some insight on his condition. This call was made after hours and he said he would get down to the hospital to see him within 24 hours. The next day the NICU staff told me that Dr. Donnell had been there to evalute him that same night, literally an hour after speaking to me on the phone and because of that I got to take my son home the same day. The NICU staff told me that they never see that happen with other pediatricians and that it wasn't the first time they had experienced that with him. They told me to never change doctors, he is just that good in the opinon of the NICU staff at Methodist.

We have seen other peds. and in my opinion you can't do better than these two gentlemen.

Great Pediatrician, Horrible Office Staff

This was originally a five star review after the first two months we were going to this office but now that we've been coming here for a year I definitely do not feel the same way. The office staff is so rude that next month's well visit will probably be our last at this office. The only reason we have stayed this long is because the Dr. and nurses are amazing but the staff has become way too much to handle. It seems like they are always having problems with their system and can never find any trace of our daughter. And even though our insurance changed almost a year ago at every single visit they tell me that the insurance they have on file has been canceled and every single time I have to update them. One time they even announced it out to the waiting room and asked how I was planning on paying for the visit with the entire waiting room listening in. I had read other reviews and couldn't understand why anyone would stop seeing a Dr. over his office staff but I get it now. What a shame.
