There are really only a few costume shops in san antonio and it you are looking to rent a costume from cherry's there is a wide selection of already made ones, BUT if you are looking to commission a costume to be made for something specific then this is NOT a good place to get it done. the charge per hour of labor on a costume is 20 dollars. the end product came out looking cheap and thrown-together and was not complete by the deadline. i was extremely disappointed by the ""final product"" and am now taking it elsewhere to see what can be done to make it better.

After having bad experiences with rotten customer service at Starline and Gibsons, Cherry's was a gift sent from above. Cherry herself knows so much about the theatrical world and takes pride in her business. She stayed open late for me and kindly attended to me and another customer at the same time. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place! Her shop is small, but I had so much fun being in there and working with her. She is just a sweet person. Amazing! That is pretty much all I have to say is amazing. Amazing!

Cherry's has excellent customer service! I needed a mask for a masquerade prom on extremely short notice last year and ended up calling Cherry's after hours. They were very polite and someone came to meet me fairly quickly after I called them, opened up the doors, and let me take my time choosing a mask, even though it was at a very inconvenient time. I had a great experience with Cherry's, and I'm definitely using them again!
My husband and I came by this store to look for Renn. Fair costumes about a year ago. We called a day ahead, since the message says to make an appointment, and Cherry said we could come in. We got there, and were greated by a nice man, but unfortunately he didn't know where anything was, or how to help us. We were ushered into a huge room STUFFED full of dirty clothing in racks upon racks squashed together, and had to "dive in" to look for ourselves. We looked for a while, but were soon grossed out by the condition and musty smell of the place, along with the heat (no air conditioning). I don't think she cleans the costumes.
After about 1/2 hour, we were about to leave, when Cherry finally shows up. She asked us what we were looking for, then told us she would look for something and call us back to come in AGAIN to see if we liked it! I had told her what we were looking for over the phone the day before, and told her we were comming in out of town (45min to hour drive)...there was no way we were going to drive back for that place. On top of that, she never even called us back!

I was very suprised to read the negative report on Cherry's Costumes. I did not meet the owner personally but last summer I did rent a Barney the Dinosaur costume for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. The costume was only $50.00 and there were no late fees. The employee even stayed late so that we could return the costume. The staff was really friendly. She was very helpful. I am planning on returning for a Buzz Lightyear costume very soon. My daughter's birthday is almost here. :)

I had a GREAT experience at Cherry's Costumes! The other review on this site must be from a disgrunted customer (there will always be someone that can't be pleased). I only paid $30 plus tax and no deposit for my sons' costume. Cherry worked with us PERSONALLY and we got a great costume that helped earn my son an A+ on his school report due to the research library she has. She even came in after the normal business hours (and this wasn't the first time she has done this for us).
I would recommend and will continue to use Cherry as my personal costumer.
