My family has been going to DCMA for a year now, I'm a pre-school teacher and could not be more pleased with the Academy. Before we attended DCMA we "shopped" around. ( and we went to quite a few places) We couldn't find what we were looking for, if the instructors were good they were WAY too hard on the kids, if we liked the atmosphere was good the Instructor had his students teaching the class and never came out of the office, and some just did not have a good feeling to them. But from the very first day we walked into DCMA it had a very "FAMILY" feeling. Everyone is so nice and willing to help, teach and LEARN. Which we feel are very important values we want our kids to learn. No matter what color belt at DCMA, everyone has something they can contribute to our FAMILY. I STRONGLY recommend that you stop by and take a look, cause no matter the age, skill level, gender, or learning abilities DCMA has strong instructors that can meet the needs you are looking for. Cause when you join DCMA your not just joining an academy your joining a FAMILY!
My son and I have been part of the Martial Arts PDC community for about 4 years. This Dojo has the highest quality instruction and addresses the who…
I've been at DCMA for over 3 years now and I'm extremely happy with the academy and how they interact and treat the kids. I have my 3 children enrolled and they have been for over 3 years as well. We have a lot of very satisfied parents and children that have been attending here for many years. DCMA is NOT run like a jail or a daycare. The children are encourage to do the best they can and when they are lower belts they are sometimes promoted even if they are not 100% sufficient at all of the techniques. We believe that expecting perfection from beginners and not giving them positive reinforcement is not the way to help them learn. Some people are never satisfied regardless of the quality of service. Comparing how one child progresses against other children is not a fair comparison. Some people are slower learners than others and we work with all skill levels. I believe the positive and happy atmosphere here is a fantastic environment for children and adults to learn valuable skill.
My son and I love this dojo! We have been members for about a year and we have gained so much from participating. My son has gotten stronger, more disciplined, and more mature. I have lost some weight, gained energy, found muscles I never knew I had, and have been having a blast! As a middle-aged teacher, it is wonderful to try something that is hard for me and to watch excellent teachers in another discipline in action. Dr. Lockhart and his staff are incredibly accomplished. More important to me is the fact that they know how to be inclusive to all ages and abilities and that the dojo is very family-oriented. This dojo is filled with upstanding, family-oriented, caring men and women on staff and in class. The dojo gives us motivation and a sense of belonging. I know my son is well cared for there and that the lessons we are learning there will stay with us for a lifetime.
