I am not sure if many places...especially of the fast food sorts...would fit the bill for a 5-star rating. Still, Podna's Catfish and Po'Boys was an easy choice for a top rating. Having spent 6 months living in San Antonio, this place became one of my favorites. Although it is a place that could be easily overlooked on Austin Highway, and generally would not be fit for a 30 minute lunch if you work downtown, I found as many opportunities to go back as my co-workers would allow. The food in general is really good, but of course, you should shoot for the po'boys. My favorite was the 12" 1/2 fried oyster, 1/2 fried shrimp. Whatever you choose, it is overflowing with meat, the roll that it comes in is fresh and the sauce that you can add on your own is great. The fries weren't necessarily my favorite, but they are still really tasty and not overly fried or salty. This is a pretty basic restaurant, and watch out for the high noon lunches, as it might be difficult to find a table. But the staff is really nice and the owner, who willingly shares about his visit to New Orleans which led to the start of his business, is definitely a friendly character. Although I was never that rushed, they even have a drive-through, and I have heard that you can call in orders and have them cater. Now, I am off to new eating adventures in Dallas, TX as a next step in my own professional pursuits, but Podna's will definitely be on my list when I take my next trip to SA.

From Business: For those of you looking for the finest cuts and some of the rarest gems that the sea has to offer, look no further. We here take pride in the quality we serve and …
We tend to frequently eat at Hibachi grills for special occasions. (Mainly when in Houston since we had not been impressed with the ones we have eaten at in SA). So we know who has the best soup, salad, rice etc). We actually gave Sumo another chance after we starving and disgruntled, gave up waiting for a table on a busy Sat night ( now we know to make a reservation). (We weren't impressed when it was Benni Hana's - so we never choose to come to Sumo). We came on Easter Sunday 2016 and we were pleasantly surprised! We were most impressed with the quality of the regular Hibachi steak and shrimp. The hot Tazo green tea was wonderful too. Actually the steak's flavor and tenderness is the best we've had at a Hibachi restaurant. Everything else was good too although the best soup and salad honor remains in Houston. We will definitely come back for special occasions in the near future.
This place is awesome! Before I am even able to cross the shop's path, I am greeted by the fresh smell of homemade fudge! They have the sweetest people working for them, that will tell you exactly what flavors you just may like if you give them a sense of your palette. Not to mention the prices are very low for a chocolate shop, I have absolutely no complaints on that part. I think everyone who takes a stroll in the riverwalk should stop in and have a taste of the fresh fudge, or the SPECTACULAR fudge dipped apples. They are a work of art, in fact while I was enjoying my 1/2 pound of chocolate cheesecake fudge, three different groups of people came in making a fuss over the apples, so bad that they all took photos. This place is awesome, I will for sure be going back if I am ever in San Antonio again! -Beyond satisfied!
