Choosing a roofing service is a daunting task, at best, coordinating among the contractors, mortgage company and inspectors, all competing for their own interest, leaving the homeowner in a quandary, at best. I recently went through this process, vetting multiple roofers. Frustrated, I called another service provider I have been very happy with, having a solid working-knowledge of the contractors in San Antonio. I trusted him, and he recommended R and R Roofing, which turned out to be one of the smartest decisions I've made selecting a service provider. R and R’s owner, Richard, personally visited with me on numerous occasions, holding-my-hand through the entire process, completely assuming the responsibility of coordinating my mortgage company, insurance company and inspectors, fighting for me. He identified items which were left out and should have been included, which are things non-roofing specialists like myself and average homeowners would not at all be aware of. The insurance company had already cut a check, based on the third-party inspection, yet Richard coordinated with them and by submitting proper documentation, FORCED them to cut another check, until they ultimately paid the amount Richard believed I had coming to me. He provided me with multiple roofing styles, colors, materials and brands, as he has extensive experience in roofs of all types. He is also a conscientious businessman and coordinates multiple jobs with incredible efficiency, and the end result is absolutely gorgeous (and I am extremely picky). He was juggling several jobs at he was scheduling my home, one of which included a VERY well-known celebrity who could hire anyone, which speaks to the quality and character of his company. The only stress I encountered while having my roof replaced, was attempting to remain calm while my mortgage company micro-managed every step, dragging it out, requesting and re-requesting endless forms, holding on to checks, making it difficult to make funds available, numerous phone calls, etc, which was unnerving. I was SO GRATEFUL to Richard, for stepping in and handling a huge portion of this himself, ultimately using his knowledge to hold their feet-to-the-fire, relieving me of so much of headaches. Another thing about R and R that I find virtually non-existent in today's world, particularly with service providers, is that I ALWAYS had the opportunity to speak with Richard, whenever necessary. He does NOT PUT YOU OFF OR AVOID YOU, regardless of the issue at hand. I asked him if there might be software available to help me in selecting a roof and he promptly provided me with a website for his products that do exactly that. It is SO much better to see the roof on your home BEFORE it's done!!! When his crew finished (extremely fast service once the mortgage company, insurance company and inspectors are satisfied), the final result is absolutely stunning, and his crew blew me away. They were efficient, courteous, very skilled, extremely hard-working and left not even a tiny scrap of paper anywhere on the premises. I've not yet commented in detail, on the price. I had other quotes, prior to having R and R recommended to me, and he beat them -- not a little, but by hundreds, and kept to that price to fruition. Richard works relentlessly to run a respectable, competitive and attentive business, providing a quality service as well as quality product.. R &R worked hard to meet my needs and deliver outstanding results that I felt it incumbent upon me to share this, hopefully eliminating anxiety for reviewers. I empathize with the pain of searching in the dark ,for a competent company to perform major work on my home coupled with the potential liabilities. It is almost unprecedented that I can unequivocally recommend a service or products, but for me, this was a HUGE win and I can state without reservation that you will have NO regrets, whatsoever with R&R.
07/31/2009 I woke up this morning and found my A/C was not working. My husband went outside and found that the compressor wasn't moving at all. This was around 6:30am. I knew I was going to have to stay home from work to have someone come service our A/C, so I looked online at the yellow pages website and found Comfort Design. They had some rave reviews and they have been around a long time. So, I called them immediately and an answering service took my information. They said they would call me back at 8am. I waited until 8:10, and then called them. I knew I had to get someone out immediately since it has been in the hundreds outside lately. They told me that it was going to cost $60.00 for them to come diagnose the issue. I scheduled an appointment and the lady said they would be out late morning to fix it. At 9:15, someone called and said they were 20 minutes away from being at my house! When they arrived, I told them the issues I was having of the compressor and the fact that 2 of the rooms didn't seem like they were getting enough air. They went outside to check the unit and said that the switch for the compressor was bad and had to be replaced. They also said that something else had to be replaced (not sure what the thing is called, but it is a small cylinder), but it was only mild issue. They told me that the particular part would be out soon since it has been so hot. I told him I am hoping that it lasts the summer so we can replace it in the fall or winter. I asked them how much it would cost with the diagnostic fee and they told me originally $248.00. To replace the other part would have been about the same amount and I didn't want to spend $500.00 today. Anyway, when I told him that 2 of the rooms were not getting enough air and that I heard a possible animal in the attic about 4 days ago, he got a ladder and went up in my attic. I asked him what it looked like up there since my husband and I have NEVER been up there the whole time we have lived in the house for 3 years. He said that the whole duct area would have to be replaced and gave me a quote of $3300.00 to $3800.00 to replace it all. He also mentioned that whoever converted the garage to our living room didn't put insulation up there and that is why the room is always hotter than it should be. I had a nice conversation with them and they gave me a detailed invoice with all the issues on it. The guy even took pictures on his camera of our attic and he took pictures of the attic with my camera so I can show my husband the bad job the previous owners did. They told me that they had payment plans for that type of work and also that they would come anytime to speak with me and my husband together to get more information on the work that has to now get done. They were out here until 10:45am helping me with my issue. Money well spent in my eyes! They were very friendly, professional and they knew what they were doing. I would recommend them to anyone and definitely use them again!
