The food is nothing to write home about and it is a bit pricey, but my wife and I enjoy coming here for lunch and the atmosphere is quite nice.

House-made Yogurt and Cinnamon Toast

If you happen to stop by Gourmandise for breakfast you must try their house-made yogurt topped with berries, jam, and sugar-glazed toasted almonds. It is simply divine and the best yogurt I have ever tasted. Their Cinnamon Bread topped with Amaretto whipped cream and raspberry puree is also fabulous. Breakfast is Gourmandise' secret.

Good Service

I found the service to be excellent and friendly. It is busy at lunch time and the cafe is almost always full, but even then my coffee cup is almost always kept full. Off the busy hours you get plenty of attention. The place is clean the food excellent and the pastries outstanding.

Cockroaches!!!

The food was ok but I'll never go back there again!!! Was eating lunch on the patio and a cockroach dropped from the patio ceiling onto the table. OMG if they are on the restaurants patio then what is inside the restaurant!!!!

We are sorry that you had that experience, it's hard to completely control an outdoor patio in the heart of the city. Come inside, we've got a wonderfully clean restaurant.

Overall
food is good service awfully slow and rude

I love their european cakes, i have few favorites, i always buy more than I can eat, but whenever you come there to pick up or to spend some tiome with friends - the service is not good.

I hate to say it, but they need to train their people to be american style corteous, the way we expect from eatery.

they are rude there just like in Paris when you are not speaking french with Parisian accent. I am not sure if you guys know what I mean, but try. Or even worse, try to go to france and speak only english and you will see some looks.... so here we have nice nice food, but you feel that you are really a burden for the servers and it would be better if you just eat as fast as you can and leave.

and please do not try to complain to management if you have a problem. they are 100 times more rude than waiters.

the only person who is xtremely nice is Alena but... I hadnt been lucky enough to see her last few times I was there, and ended up getting crapy service!

Gourmandise has been my favorite place for late night desserts for years. I wondered in for breakfast the other day and that was great too. It's nice to go to a place where you know everything is made from scratch. It's downtown's little secret. The suburbs can have their franchises and chains. Eating here with friends at such a unique place makes me feel like its here for the locals to enjoy.

Fantastic

I have traveled around the world a few times as a speaker and consultant. What I like about coming home is the Local feel of Gourmandise. Is the service a little slow??? compared to what...Fast food?? Yes! Are you there to get in and get out or enjoy the fact that they take there time to prepare and it shows and taste in the meals. For some the wait may be much. for me.. I am thankful to know I can get a great meal or pastry at a pretty Fair price in a great location. Love the Place. Thanks,

RD
