Do not waste your time

They have quite a few guns...unfortunately they can not sell any to you because their FFL license lapsed or at least that is what they claim. They also claim Utah's best indoor range...I have been to four different ranges in Utah and this one was the absolute hands down worst. I would rather take my chances shooting in my own basement because at least there would be some ventilation if I open a window.

Friendly, local gun shop!

I have been doing business with Doug since the day he opened the door, and I can honestly say I have never regretted any of the hundreds of transactions I've done with him or his staff. He went to alot of effort at times to find a particular gun or item I wanted and still gave me a very fair price on them. Sure the parking is cramped at times, but they have arranged extra parking next door. They do get busy at times, that's a good sign that they have loyal customers and referrals. I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to get helped, and unlike some other gun stores, the staff is knowledgeable and not pushy. I like being able to go to their shooting range during bad weather to shoot or sight in a gun. I can heartily recommend Doug's to anyone looking to purchase a gun or accessories.

Doug's according to Doug

No relation to the company, but thought I would title it that way anyways. I have purchased both a handgun and rifle from Doug's and plan on buying more. My first purchase was for a brand new Springfield 1911 which they had the best price in the state (I have looked as far as Cedar City). I was again pleased by a Norinco M14 they had used but still excellently priced (an quite accurate). In my various visits to the store Dennis showed me around and introduced me to other great priced reloading supplies. I did not feel pressured or like I was being sold to. The only complaints I have are not exactly within their control. One is while they have great selection of handgun reloading supplies they are limited when it comes to rifles (it has more to do with current demand than anything else). And when I referred my brother to them (recently returned from Iraq) they had difficulty obtaining his specially requested M4, and he ultimately cancelled the order because long delay (fault of the company, not Doug's). I would whole-heartedly (and do) refer anyone to this fine business without any reservations.

Love this place you got to go there...

The selection is OK and the prices are OK but the customer service is HORRIBLE (even for girls buying guns) and the place is just so... dank and greasy. Bleck. They have buckets sitting around to catch the dripping water from the roof. How am I supposed to know that my new gun hasn't been getting dripped on for months? They have a big parking lot, but you can never find a place to park, either.

Best gun store in Utah

I recently bought my first handgun, and during that process went to Cabellas, Get Some Guns N Ammo, and Doug's to do my shopping. My wife had never shot a gun before, and I had shot quite a few, but never my own. When we went to Cabellas, we couldn't get any help, and the people were rushed to get me in and out. I felt like I was at a car dealership. Get Some was also a horrible experience. They treated me, and my wife especially, like we were retards for asking questions. I didn't catch the salesman's name, but I will never step foot in there again...they have lost a lot of future business (a lot of range fee income, guns, ammo, classes, etc). \n\nIt was like a breath of fresh air stepping in to Doug's. They were polite, they were available, while not feeling like we were being pressured. The best part is they did a very, very, good job with addressing my wife's concerns. I will go back to buy all my future guns, ammo, classes, everything I can get from them...I will!! You CANNOT go wrong with Doug's!!

I bought my SIGARMS P229 at Doug's Shoot 'N Sports in 2003. They beat the lowest prices of even the online dealers, and included a 50-round box of ammunition and a few range pass, too. My experience convinced me that the staff there were knowledgable, helpful and courteous. The 20-lane basement indoor shooting range is always enjoyable even for spectators who can watch the shooting through windows. The landscaping was replanted in the summer of 2004 so that its curb, gutter, sidewalk and lawn are more attractive than before. The parking lot is small, but additional parking is always nearby at neighbor businesses and curbside.

GLOCKANATOR: Sorry to read that ""the very first handgun I bought"" was such a bad experience. Somehow ""the first handgun"" and ""experience"" speak loudly to what may have been more closely related to your bad experience than the guys I know to be quite professional at DOUG'S. You got one thing right, GLOCK! Glock, however, for an inexperienced shooter could be problematic. You'll hear, ""Glock's don't have a safety""! NOT SO. I am very skeptical about ""ALL"" of the police officers ... trading in their GLOCKS for..superior.."" I have owned S&W, First ever duty weapon a Model 19 ""BUNTLINE SPECIAL"" I even carried a model 315, 3"" barrel .38 once. Today the only name on my sidearm is GLOCK. I'll post a pix of a target shot at DOUG'S for qualifying once. 2 Clips, rapid fire, Max range, 17 body cavity, 17 head shots W/a Crimson Trace Laser of course. Best sidearm I've ever owned. Kind advice here. Take shooting lessons from qualified instructors, compare firearms objectively, and apologize to Dave - he's a professional and has my respect.

Great Salt Lake Firearms Dealer

I recently purchased 2 weapons in 2 months, 1 from a local competitor in Midvale (Tactical .22 caliber rifle) and a handgun from Doug's. My experience with Doug's was far more superior than the other store. Its staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I've been to their store several times since I bought my gun and dealt with 4 staff members so far and I received consistent friendly and courteous service all 4 times. When I bought my gun, I had no idea what brand to get. Dave, the guy that sold me the gun took the time to show me a few choices and educated me and my son on the advantages and disadvantages of each weapon without being pressured whatsoever. I feel I made the best decision and couldn't be happier with my choice. I see a lot of people complain that the service at Doug's is very slow. Well, it's really not slow, they just care enough about each customer and ensure they answer all of their questions. Its the quality of service you get when you finally get your turn. If you are planning to go to Doug's, plan on spending at least 30 min to be in the store specially on a busy day. Trust me, it'll be worth your wait when you get your turn. They will give you the time you deserve no matter how knowledgeable or ignorant you are with guns. It's obvious that is their policy with customers. \nThey've master the craft on their products and they try to do the same with their customer service. That's a bit hard to find with retailers these days especially for a local business. Besides, they've only been around for 36 yrs. I think that's enough to trust that they know what they're doing.
