Overall

Richard and Jack at Certified Automotive were very knowledgeable, kind and prompt in answering my many questions about getting my car towed, repairing the coils, wiring, spark plugs, replacing the radiator, thermostat and more. The car is good to go!

Certified charged me $871 to diagnose and change a mass air flow sensor. I looked up the part on autozone, and it costs $139.00. They charged me $340 for it. Basically, I would watch out if you take your car to this establishment.

Unfortunately this gentleman did not care to post an accurate and complete comment. He is certainly entitled to his opinion, but here are the facts. This 2006 Mustang came in to diagnose and repair a check engine light on problem. In our shop, we do not guess and throw parts at problems-with no guaranteed outcome. We explained to the customer how most computer problems will take one to two hours of diagnosis to determine the exact problem and defective component(s). He was told up front that the cost for this would be from $95 to $190. The diagnosis, (including reading computer codes, lab scope testing of individual circuits and components, research of Ford factory service bulletins, inspection of under-hood wiring and connectors etc. came to $141. Ford factory service bulletins said to make sure the vehicle had the latest compute updates (program), before continuing the diagnosis. It did not, so we had to purchase the update from Ford Motor company and reprogram the computer before continuing our diagnosis. This came to $161.78. After which we completed our diagnosis by determining the Mass Air Flow sensor was bad. This person compares a cheap aftermarket part, with the Ford factory original (which meets Ford specifications while the one he is comparing to does not). The Ford Mass Air Flow sensor was $336.66. What he also doesn't say is he also purchased an air filter ($28.10) no labor to install. The total for all of this including tax and shop supplies came to $871.76. What he also fails to say is that with our diagnosis and repair the problem code is guaranteed to be solved. Something which most other shops don't do. Simply reading engine codes does not accurately tell you which component(s) or wiring section is at fault. Even Auto-zone admits that. This customer was informed and updated about all costs throughout the diagnosis and repair and authorized everything.
