Town and Country Animal Hospital was established in Salina in 1960 and has been in its present location since 1977. Dr. Karen Hale-Young purchased the clinic from Dr. King in 1987 and Town and Country Animal Hospital has grown into full-service facility offering the most progressive and up-to-date treatment for dogs, cats and exotic pets throughout Salina and the surrounding communities. Your pet’s health and well being is very important to us and we take every step to give your pet the best possible care including emphasis on nutrition and preventative health care. On April 1st, 2019 Town and Country Animal Hospital received its Fear Free Practice Certification and was the first Hospital in Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska to achieve this step to be a part of a new initiative sweeping veterinary medicine. Fear Free was designed to ease the stress, fear, and anxiety that many pets, and in turn, their humans experience while visiting the veterinarian. The Fear Free training and certification program helps veterinarians and entire practices modify their procedures, handling and facilities to help pets feel safe and comfortable while receiving the medical care they need.

Training & Behavior problems can not only cause stress for you and your pet, but also, if unchecked, can lead to major medical problems and a shorter life for your pet. Some of our behavior services include counseling and treatment for problems including housebreaking, barking, anxiety, aggressiveness (such as biting, scratching etc.), depression, as well as socialization and basic obedience training. Our Kennels are air conditioned, comfortable, and cleaned whenever needed. Your pet will be leash walked a minimum of two times a day. Veterinary care is available if necessary. We feed Hill's Science Diet Sensitive Stomach to our guests. You are welcome to tour the facility or visit your pet. There are different accommodations for you to choose from to best meet your pet's individual needs. We have large runs, as well as medium and small cages. Our Kitty Cages are in a separate area from the dogs. Our attentive staff attends to your pets needs during their stay. To board your pet, we require that your cat or dog be up-to-date on all required vaccines (Cats need Rabies and Dogs need Rabies, DHP/P-C, CIV and bordetella). Oral health increases your pet's well being, adds to its longevity and makes it more pleasant to be around. Our Dental Services include Oral/Dental examinations, Dental X-Rays, Dental Cleaning and Polishing as well as extractions. We also provide veterinary service for exotic pets. For more information about the services available please call our office. Professional grooming services are available by appointment Monday through Friday. Every grooming includes bath, clip, nail trim, ear plucking and cleaning, and anal gland expression. If your dog has a problem with his ears or anal glands, you can request they be treated by a veterinarian while your dog is here. We also provide medicated baths if needed. Our in-house laboratory and state of the art ultrasound and digital radiology equipment allow us to quickly and thoroughly evaluate your companion animals health, even in critical cases where time is of the essence. Our facility includes a fully equipped laboratory, therapeutic and surgical laser, Ultrasound services, Endoscopy, a fully digital x-ray department and Electrocardiograms ( ECG). We carry many products for your convenience, such as Science Diet Premium Foods, Flea and Tick Products, Heartworm Preventives, Vitamin Supplements, Shampoos, Conditioners and other grooming products, Stain Removal/Odor Control products, Collars and Leashes, Toys, Treats and Chews. It is essential that your companion animal has a full, healthy life. Our wellness care services include Comprehensive Physical exams, Puppy / Kitten Vaccination Series as well as Adult Dog / Cat Vaccinations, Nutrition Counseling and Senior Pet Health Care and Diagnostics. The most up-to-date anesthesia and surgical equipment allows us to perform many routine and non-routine surgical services while ensuring your pets safety and comfort. We have the option of using a surgical laser in a variety of surgical procedures, like spay (female)or neuter (male) surgeries and declawings. We also do laceration repairs, Tumor removals, Orthopedic (bone), Abdominal, Ear/Eye and Reproductive surgeries.
