I go to Gov Cup whenever I am in Salem. The barista's are super friendly, but not fake. The regulars are missed by the baristas if they miss a day.(How Friendly is That?) The customers range from street people to college students, business people and the old people who do their crosswords together...oh, and joggers - lots of joggers. I sometimes got a coffee-contact-high just walking in the door when they would roast their coffee in the shop. Their espresso roast 'Attitude Adjustment" is my favorite roast ANYWHERE! (And I live in Seattle) They were also the first coffee house that I ever went to that charged for Americano's by the amount of shots and not by the cup size. The decor is kind of 'your parent's basement' strewn with caffine related paraphernalia and the sofas were a little thrashed, but that added to the charm.
I had to make a quick change of venue for my sons birthday party. I contacted this McDonald's. Because my party was only going to have 4 kids the supervisor said to just pay for our food and bring our own cake and they would do the rest. We got there and found that they had not only set us up a party table in the play area, but, they had sent an employee to get balloons!! It turned out to be a wonderful experience for the kids and took so much stress off of me!! Thank you so much to everyone who went out of their way to help make my sons 7th birthday memorable!!!! The chow mein still looks like lo mein to me. This is fast food. You can get about the same thing at the West Salem Safeway. Burger King, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Panda Express-- your choice. About the same amount of calories.
