Westport School Childcare

I can’t say enough about this little gem of a school! We happened upon it when looking for an option to start taking our 2 year old part time who had only been with our nanny, and whose verbal delays I was worried about. The schedule options were a bonus, (they truly understand what families need), but it was the initial phone conversation and meeting and tour with Suzanne, the director, where I realized we’d found our place! Three years later and off to kindergarten, we feel incredibly lucky and grateful for the experience we had. (I should note that my son’s speech also took off within weeks of enrolling, which was wonderful!)

The staff at Westport are genuinely dedicated to the work they do with kids. My son wasn’t one to let go of Mom easily, or go with the flow consistently. This finally passed over time, but I’ll never forget the patience and care he was treated with, and their understanding of every kid’s needs; good days, bad days, asthma and all! I can say it soon became like taking him to spend the day with family; that sense of security you can’t put a price on. Long time teachers Miss Terri, Miss Carrie and Miss Donna were unforgettable, but there wasn’t a teacher there whose ability or heart we ever questioned.

Room transitions as my son “graduated” to new levels were exciting and inviting. The surprise e-mails with pictures of him having fun or creating something made many of my days. The fun things they did between field trips, splash days, pajama days, bike-a-thons, hands-on experiments, singing, story time, and raising butterflies are more than I could count. And as for being kindergarten ready after his year in Pre-K; he exceeded expectations on his kindergarten screening.

You may not see state of the art new construction and fancy TV ads for this one. But you will see babies being held, adorable artwork the whole school is proud of, the incredible pride in owner Jim’s presence and cheery personality, fun, clean and safe classrooms and playgrounds, a school director you instinctually trust because she’s down to earth, honest, extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and undeniably compassionate about her role, truly kind-hearted teachers the kids trust like family, and reasonable tuition I’d say is a challenge to get elsewhere for the quality of care and experience your child would have at Westport School.

We had a great 3 years here! It was hard to say good-bye.

I would recommend The Westport School. Our son has been in attendance for over 3 months in the infant room and I love the teachers. He smiles everyday when he sees his teachers and friends. They communicate well, are professional and even though they are larger than some of the other centers I have visited I always feel right at home and like my son and I are very important. So glad Westport / Maryland Heights area has such a great school/daycare.

My son has been going to Westport School since he was 11 months old. He's nine now. Ms. Suzanne and Ms. Donna has been employed there the entire time. They are like family to us. My son is now in 4th grade attending before and after care. I don't worry about him because I know he's in good hands.

Suzanne is the Director of the school and has been a great resource to me for child development issues.

I highly recommend them. Can't imagine my son being anywhere else.

Management and Teachers are very nice people. Jim is running this school for 40 years! and he is very nice man. Director Ms.Suzanne is very welcoming and preschool teachers Mr.Terri and Ms.Cary are kids friendly. And I like the flexibility of school hours 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. You can drop your child anytime between those business hours.

Thank you so very much Westport School for all of the top notch care that you provide our children. While our two children are with you we have total confidence in the care you provide. All of your staff are simply amazing, caring, kind, professional, nourishing and stock full of wisdom. The environment that you have created feels as if we are leaving our children with family, and like the other daycares/schools that we have experienced. It is really awesome the curriculum that you have in place, and the way that you have balanced learning, creating, caring and recreation. After a horrible day care situation my daughter was in (a student kept biting her and the previous day care did NOTHING), I heard about The Westport School. Upon me walking in to take a tour, I was treated with respect, kindness and overall happy atmosphere, I signed her up! I am so glad I did. She has been so happy! The teachers are hands on, truly care for her and let me know of her progress on a consistent basis. I am so happy I have found The Westport School! So is my daughter!

My daughter attended the Westport School for 2 years, starting at age 2 1/2. She always looked forward to going to school and seeing her teachers and friends. Her teachers were wonderful and really cared about her. Everyone who worked there was very nice. The Director was very involved in what was going on every day and personally took an interest in each child. I highly recommend the Westport School for child care.

I have twin boys that have been going to the Westport School for almost two years now, and I could not be happier with the entire experience. Ms. Mellisa and Ms. Leah keep the boys engaged with fun and exciting activities. I would recommend Westport Daycare to anyone who is looking for a quality school for their children.

I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the teachers and all caregivers at the Westport School. This has been a wonderful environment for my son to learn interesting subjects and experiments. The kindness and dedication of each person there really makes a difference in the experience the children have. We are grateful for the individual attention that each child receives and are conscious of how much self esteem building has been accomplished in these important younger years. Our son is just now beginning kindergarten but will definitely be back for summer camp. The Westport School staff is filled people who make a positive contributions for the benefit of the children. Words cannot express how wonderful Westport School has been to me and my children! After almost 5 years there, my children have grown and blossomed under the care of some of the most dedicated and caring child care experts I have ever met. Never once did I worry about my kids during my work day because I knew they were being nurtured and educated by some of the most patient yet down-to-earth people - who know how to let kids be kids in the best way possible.

There is always terrific continuity of care because their staff turnover rate is so low. Over time, my kids have been in the infant-toddler, 2&3s room, pre-school, pre-kindergarten, and school-age programs and all are equally fabulous! My older children still look forward to visiting to see their favorite teachers, who are still there. (Big hugs to Miss Melissa, Miss Terry, and Miss Donna!)

If you can't stay home with your kids, this is the next best thing!

Words cannot express how much of wonderful experience our family has had in the four years of our sons life, he started at 12 weeks old, and from the moment I felt at ease leaving him in loving arms. The teachers are extraordinary, always hugging and loving on the children, while providing excellent level of education, values, manners, potty training, socializing, playtime,arts and much more....all the teachers have been the numerous years and some 20 &30 years, that told me something is right for people to stay that long, I receive pictures on my son doing arts or napping and much more nice feedback. The owner listens well and put in a new 30,000$ Playground, and hands out a healthy snack at the end of the day ;). I would refer anyone looking for

After a bad experience at another daycare I was hesitant to trust anyone with my son. After talking with Jim (the owner), meeting some of the staff, I was hopeful that this could be a place that I would trust to take excellent care of my son. After one week I was sold. This place is amazing. The staff are great. They respect your time in the morning if you are in a hurry but will also take the time to talk to you if you have questions. Safety is of utmost importance as well. I truly consider myself lucky to be able to send my son to the Westport School. And best of all, he loves it. I do not worry about how my son is being treated during the day. And that is worth more to me than anything.
