i know i may offend some ppl. this is not personal, i'm just trying to help.
i just got done eating at this place an hour ago. it was a good restaurant, i enjoyed my experience there and the dinner was pretty cheap. but this is by no means a japanese restaurant. if you're looking for real japanese food, this is not the place to go. but then again we ARE talking about st louis, so i don't even know why i got my hopes up. my bad!

Let's be fair...this is the Mid-West. Therefore; you will not get sushi the same way you would if you were someplace with a larger, more pronounced Asian population, or somewhere close to a large body of water. Wasabi is the best place I have been; as far as St. Louis goes. The sushi; especially the yellowtail and octopus is always fresh. The specialty rolls seem a bit redundant in ingredients, but with different names. I'd recommend the handrolls.
Very good sushi for the price you pay, here. In all fairness; sometimes a little education goes a long way. Surely; anyone who has eaten sushi in other places, will atest that price, quality, and availability depend greatly on the place, as well as the skill of the sushi preparer.
Being a transplant from New Orleans; I can tell you that sushi there is served two pieces for the same price as one, here. So, expense is what you are willing to pay for what you want. Of course; often times quality costs a bit more.

I was up from Oklahoma for business, and to catch a ball game. I had the pleasure of stopping at Wasabi during my visit. This place has everything you could expect out of a sushi restaurant. The atmosphere, great service, amazing sushi, and an affordable price. I understand some are thinking ""what does this okie know about sushi?"", but I travel all over the East coast for business, and make it a point to try the premier sushi in that area. Wasabi definately exceeded my expectations. I was there with a few people, and after eating I was so pleased I made it a point to pay for everyones meal. I was very surprised how affordable this extremely fresh sushi was. One person that was in our group was not a sushi fan, and they fell inlove with this place. The parking can be an issue, but i suggest after your meal take a walk around the downtown area.

I love Wasabi! I know that it can get kind of expensive but we live in the Mid-west and if you want fresh fish (which is what you want for sushi), you have to be willing to pay for it! My husband and I eat here about once a month or so (we couldn't afford it everyday!) but sometimes I stop by for lunch if I am willing to spend $10 (which isn't bad for the amount of sushi that you get!).
I am definitely a fan of Wasabi! Great sushi, friendly service!

This is a great little place on Washington Avenue. I really enjoyed my experience here - everything from the warm hand towels to the miso soup, to the sushi rolls. The service was good, and the prices weren't too extreme. If you like sushi, give this place a try!
