Overpriced

The service was good but the food was very average and borderline not even good. Way overpriced.

Great Steaks

I have been here twice for business and with some friends. I actually live just down the street. Yeah it's a little on the pricey side but the food is terrific both times I went were great experiencs

Sub par food, sub par service! It seems that Prime 1000 relies on out of town diners from hotels within walking distance. I can't see locals returning after their first experience. The service is very slow and in my case they didn't get the order right. The quality of the food was probably above that of some hotels but far below other restaurants in the area (especially for the price) They have a lot to learn about seating guests in the dining room. We arrived before 6:00 PM. The dining room was empty and the only seating options they offered were 6 tops. Not exactly great for conversation. We chose to eat at a high top in the bar area. Still not a good choice.

Bad Experience - Stick w the better know ones (Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Stoney River, etc.)



Food - 2.5 stars (factoring in price, should be a whole lot better)

Server - 4.0 stars

Manager - 1.0 stars



Received a groupon.com offer for this steakhouse which has had some notable reviews including a Best In St. Louis for Steakhouse rating from Riverfront Times. Dug a little deeper within reviews and saw mixed feedback, some good some bad. Thought it would be a perfect time to try for ourselves w this offer from groupon, BAD IDEA.



Atmosphere was okay, service was decent, and food was merely mediocre considering the lofty prices. Once we unveiled the groupon voucher everything went downhill from the average experience to a horrible one. We were treated terribly like they resented the use of the groupon offer. Sorry Prime 1000 you are the ones who put this offer out there not us.



Voucher was good for up to $215 ticket and we only used $170. Server, after some time with the voucher, came back to our table and said the voucher only covered "Up to $18 glass of wine" and that we had ordered $18 glasses of wine and would have to pay in full for the wine. He suggested that up to $18 was not inclusive of $18. When I explained that my impression would be that up to $18 would include $18 and we were way under in all other areas of the bill (i.e. voucher covered up to $30 appetizers and we only got $10 apps) and that a .01 difference seemed petty he offered to let us speak to his manager, another Big Mistake.



When the manager arrived she said it was impossible in their computer system to allow the glasses of wine to be included with the voucher. She was very short fused with little patience with an argumentative disposition, clearly the wrong temperment for this position. She finally, and begrudgingly, agreed to accept the wine within the voucher "as long as you take care of my server properly" she said with a snide attitude. I let her know that insult sealed a bad ending to an otherwise decent experience at their establishment. I mean to suggest we would not properly tip the waiter was truly insulting. I gave her cash to cover the taxes and get change for the tip. When she returned she had incorporated a service charge of 20% that was not on our bill to begin with as if she didn't trust us. I politely told her that she insulted us one last time forcing a tip that we would have done anyways. I also mentioned that there are plenty of top notch steak house options and that we would continue to go other places such as Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Annie Gunn's, Stoney River to name a few. Each of these offer a much better atmosphere, better food and better service.



I assume Prime 1000 goal with the Groupon was to have alot of people sample what they had to offer in an effort to gain regular customers. I am sorry to say that in our experience and what I have heard has happened with others it proved exactly the opposite. After this experience I WILL NEVER GO BACK no matter what the offer, full price or otherwise.



As stated before, stick with Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Stoney River, Annie Gunns. THEY GET IT. I will gladly pay full price at these places and know my experience will be top notch each and every time.
