This is one of our favorite restaurants and we dine out 2 to 3 times a week. Over the last 7 years we have shared meals with Larry Fuse and his staff at least 150 times. In that time period most of the servers (Rayetta, Elane, Taylor etc) have remained and they picked up one of the best mixologist in town (Jonie).
Every time we go to Lorenzo's we vary what we do. Sometimes we sit at the bar and Jonie pours us some of the best drinks that you can get in St. Louis. I love a good Old Fashioned and she makes one that is spot on. Other times we dine in the regular dining room and watch as hundreds of people flood in to celebrate special occasions or just have a wonderful dining experience. On occasion we secure the kitchen table or the backroom for a more intimate evening.
How is the food? So great you feel like you are in Northern Italy. I usually order the calves liver (it comes with polenta and a delicious sauce) . In terms of what we suggest for others, try the following: Arancini (you will feel like you are in the streets of Palermo with this starter), house made potato gnocchi (pronounced ""know-keee"" and is so tender and comforting), or the chicken spedini.
