Laclede Gas Company is one of the largest natural gas distribution companies in Missouri that provides valuable, reliable service to more than 600,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the Missouri portion of the St. Louis metropolitan area and in several other counties in the southeastern area of the state. The company, formed in 1857 to light city streets, has evolved to meet the needs of its customers, moving from gas lighting to other domestic uses, primarily cooking and water heating and then to heating. Laclede Gas Company is a regulated public utility and a wholly owned subsidiary of The Laclede Group, an exempt public utility holding company that provides reliable natural gas service through its regulated core utility operations. Laclede Gas Co. knocked on our door and told us we had a category II gas leak at our meter outside and that they'd be down to repair it within 2 hours, but dug a 'vent' hole next to the meter so the old copper pipe leak could vent to the outside air and not leak into our house. Long story short....3 days and 4 phone calls later, they finally returned to complete their work. Wow....why didn't LGC call to let me know of reason for any delay; why after my calls and their promises to call back and have a crew out the next day, did none of these things happen until 3 days later? Not good customer service. Not cool to allow a leaking line to vent for 3 days unrepaired. I don't actually understand how this could be acceptable for our public gas utility. Not happy about this experience. As for the job itself....so far it seems to be satisfactory, however after noticing the crew sitting in their truck reading newspapers (yes...all 3 men), it made me wonder if most crew waste time after jobs so they don't have to start another before shift end, and maybe that's why it took 3 days to get back to my repair. ??? who knows???
