In this day and age, travel agents are argued to be obsolete with the rise of travel websites. I had never used one before or even really known anyone using one. So, when planning our honeymoon, which would be the biggest vacation of our life, I figured let's look into it an...mored see what it's about. We came across Funjet at a wedding show and found a local agent, Travel Haus! I emailed the office (about a year and a half before our honeymoon) and received a response almost immediately from Mike -- we set up a time to meet in person that week. My fiancé (at the time) and I met with Mike together and we spent a long time talking about what we hope to get out of the vacation, our interests, personalities, etc. It seemed kind of funny to talk that much about ourselves, but there's a method to this he explained -- he was matching us up with the endless number of resorts to see what would be a good match for us. Interestingly, he suggested a resort that I had previously considered in my own researching for honeymoon options. He hit the nail on the head with that and some might ask why go through a travel agent for that if you know the resort you want? Well, after our meeting, I compared prices to his quote and what the hotel would charge and it was the same. We paid no additional costs for the service of a travel agent, yet I believe we got a better value. We upgraded our airline tickets to Funjet to the Front, which was not too expensive, but we realized very valuable -- basically like first class with taking the first class line to check your bags (which after seeing the huge long line of people in the regular line it was worth it!), seated at the front of the plane, and extra leg room. That cost a bit of money, but not much. He also arranged private transfers for us (no charge!), helped us get a free room upgrade, put us on VIP list for priority bagging, connected with the hotel staff to ensure everything was ready for us upon arrival and perfect, and kept an eye on us while we were there to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. All of this was non-invasive but very much appreciated as he was able to do some things in the back end to make our trip bump free/more pleasant. During our process of booking, Mike checked in on us, answered all of my many questions (quickly by the way -- even if out of the country!), helped us through the process of sorting out our options with cost/days of our stay, and more. He really made planning our honeymoon effortless and smooth. It's nice to have someone whose in the business to know what resorts are the ones to go to, how to fix problems if they arise, is responsive, reliable, and so on. We were in great hands and we loved our resort -- it was the perfect honeymoon! Bonus for me is that now my husband has a connection with a travel agent so that he can easily book future trips for us for my birthday or other special occasions (hint, hint) :-) view less

Wow! These guys Rock. Well in ...

Wow! These guys Rock. Well in particular Kym Rocks. Kym just booked a trip for me and my family (seven of us in all) to Playa Del Carmen Mexico earlier this year. We just came back this past weekend, and everyone agrees that this was our best vacation ever. Kym provided...more invaluable assitance when it came to wading through the dozen or so resorts in the area, and eventually helped us to choose the Sandos Playacar. We stayed at a different resort in the Cancun area last year, and this year we were looking for an upgraded Beach experience. Boy were we pleasently surprised. I have had the good fortune of staying at quite a few really nice resorts in my life, and the beach at Sandos Playacar is as good as anything I have seen anywhere. Kym also contacted one of the property managers to let them know that we were coming, and she asked him to make sure that we were well cared for. My initial reaction to that was, oh sure now we will get a free fruit basket in our room, but what we got instead was free Early check in, free Wifi, and a host of other nice things that came as a result of the extra effort on her part. Our little band of travelers are already talking about what we are going to do next year, but whatever we decide you can be certain that Kym, and the folks at Travel Haus will be a big part of the planning, and final decision. Thanks again guys!view less

We worked with Gayle at Travelhaus and the working relationship couldn't have been better. We originally planned for a destination wedding going as far as having it booked. However, unexpected health issues for my mother-in-law caused us to have to make drastic changes to ...moreour plans resulting in canceling our plans for a destination wedding to instead have locally. But we kept our travel plans with Gayle the same for our honeymoon at the Casita's Royale. While our prioritization was on our family as well as trying to coordinate a wedding, Gayle was on top of letting us know what we needed to do and when. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law passed five days after our wedding but throughout securing the final stages of our trip, Gayle was very compassionate and understanding not to mention accommodating. Simply put, Gayle made everything easy from the beginning to the end. Upon first meeting, she took time to get to know us and got a good feel for our personalities. She was clear and concise about all the details and best of all, everything was delivered as promised. Truthfully, Gayle probably undersold and over-delivered. I'd certainly book another trip with Gayle and furthermore, I'd highly recommend her to anyone considering exotic vacation traveling! Thanks a million Gayle!view less
