The Bookhouse is a rare treasure not just for St. Louis, but the kind of book store that's disappearing across America. Three stories in an antiquated home...filed with every kind of story imaginable. Each room is neatly organized by subject. You'll find everything from old, odd and rare to new, popular and common books. Hardcovers and softcovers. Collectible and reader's copies. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are right...in my experience they'll even work with you if you're buying more than one title. Most of all, it's the place where you'll discover books that you didn't know you were looking for...something the Internet will never be able to do for you. Highly recommended.

I've been here many times. Lots of great books to choose from, and if they don't have something specific I am looking for, they will get it for me. They have great events, and I feel it's important to support local independent businesses. If you are in the CWE, you should make time for Left Bank Books.
