Tesson Ferry Veterinary Hospitallz9756 rated
Best in Saint Louis!!

Riley is my daughter's Boxer that was adopted from SE Missouri around 8 weeks old. Dr Don Bojrab was her Vet for about the first 6 months, we noticed Riley was having a few loose stools right about that time. Then my daughter moved with her fiance to Omaha, Nebraska. Riley...more's condition worsend, her stool was getting thinner and as time went on she began bleeding every time she defecated. Riley began losing weight and her personality was changing, from a sweet loving dog - to an angry dog. Our daughter took Riley to several Vets up in Omaha - they tried so many different treatments and food on Riley - Nothing worked. It go so bad that Riley couldn't control her bowels and the bleeding was getting so bad - she would just defecate blood!! $1500 and several Vets later, our daughter calls us crying and frantic that she can't take it anymore - Riley is in pain and suffering and she didn't know what else to do!!! So, I immediately called Tesson Ferry Vet Hospital and talked to Dr Don Bojrab..he did not know that this was still going on with Riley. So, he said, \"If you can get Riley to St. Louis, I will gladly try to see what I can do for her?\" I then drove 14 hours round trip to get Riley to Dr Don. He kept her for over a week - took her outside himself to see how she was defecating, he looked over all the treatments the other Vets had tried, he looked at what foods Riley was eating, he researched her symptoms and called another Vet that treats alot of Boxers. He did everything that the Veterinarians in Omaha did Not!! He really cares about the animals he treats!!! Finally, after a few weeks of trying things and watching her closely - he found that Riley has a rare genetic disease, common to Boxers called Hisitive ulceratic colitis (I am sure I botched this) she has to be on a Very Mild diet the rest of her life!! She had to take a Super antibiotic to kill off anything in her colon that could continue to irritate (causing the bleeding) and some other meds but after about a month she was weaned off of all medication and is medicine free now - just eating Science Diet ID!!! She is a different dog today - Healthy female weighing 51 lbs. no longer bleeding with a normal stool AND she is no longer Angry dog!! She is hyper but a very happy dog!! So is her owner!!! Dr Don was the ONLY vet that took the time to keep her overnight and watch her closely - the other Vets did not!!! Riley would have probably died had we not brought her back to STL to Tesson Ferry Vet Hospital - the WHOLE staff there is great - they really care about your pet!!! We can't Thank them enough!!view less

Kingsbury Animal HospitalJess H. rated

I completely disagree with the low ratings for Kingsbury Animal Hospital. I will also preface my review by saying that both my mother and sister are veterinarians, so I have had a lot of exposure to veterinary practice over my life. I adopted my dog, Alice, just over a year ...moreago from a local shelter. A few weeks after we brought her home, we started recognizing signs of separation anxiety. When Alice was at her worst, she chewed completely through her crate and injured her face. We came to see Dr. Brammeier for an initial behavior consultation for his assessment, diagnosis, and recommendations. He had a Behaviorist attend the meeting as well. Dr. Brammeier was thorough and explained everything in a detailed, calm, and respectful way. I could see that he understood the stress my husband and I were going through in learning how to deal with Alice's condition. I have worked with a few folks as I figured out how to manage Alice's anxiety. Unlike some other professionals, Dr. Brammeier and his staff did not sugar coat or make false promises. They were supportive and informative. I was so impressed with this first meeting that I started bringing Alice for her regular veterinary appointments as well. With a lot of hard work and persistence, we have had a lot of success with Alice over the past year with help from KAH. I now also bring my new dog, Billie Jean, to KAH for her regular check ups. We last saw Dr. Shaw - he was kind, thorough, and attentive. I highly recommend Dr. Brammeier's office for veterinary care and especially for help managing your pet's behavioral issues.view less

Lemay Animal Hospital Incleesa.althen rated

I cannot praise Lemay Animal Hospital enough. I moved relatively close in 1999, and have been taking my 2 cats and 1 dog there ever since. The doctors are all amazing. Dr. Majchrzak is boisterous, funny, kind, and willing to take the time to explain exactly what is going on ...moreso that you can understand and make informed decisions. Dr. Taff is quiet, kind, compassionate, and clearly dedicated to his work and his patients. Dr. McCord is funny, kind, dedicated, and devoted to his patients. I have seen all three doctors, and have been happy with all three. In the past year, I have had to put both cats, and my dog to sleep. Dr. Majchrzak put my first cat to sleep, and could not have been more kind, caring, and compassionate. Dr. Taff put both my second cat and my dog to sleep, and he was also amazing, compassionate, caring. They both gave me time by myself, after my babies were gone, to hold them and grieve a bit. While my babies were alive, these three took the best care of them that I have ever had from vets. In addition to the stellar care, they are amazingly reasonably priced. I rave about this place to anyone who will listen. The building is old and not fancy, but if you want vets that will care about your pets and you, and will give you top notch care at a reasonable price, don't go anywhere else. view less
