Low-level laser therapy or cold laser therapy uses light energy to stimulate tissue repair and provide pain management. The laser uses focused light to stimulate tissue at and below the surface of your pet’s skin. Therapeutic lasers can be used to treat a variety of conditions and ailments for your pet. Most commonly it is used for postoperative pain management after orthopedic surgeries, musculoskeletal injuries, soft tissue injuries (such as sprains and strains), back pain, and arthritis. However, it can also be used for other inflammatory issues such as cystitis (bladder inflammation).

Wound and Fracture Care
Our veterinary technicians are responsible for all exam rooms, outpatient diagnostic tests, pharmaceuticals, blood drawing, bandages, IV’s, injections, wound care, emergency triage, and stabilization, anesthesia, dentistry, assisting in surgery, client education, behavior, and the care of ICU and isolation patients. They carry out the treatments and alert the doctors of any change with the patients in their charge. One of the benefits our clients have is having a nurse on site 24 hours and day 365 days a year. If you ever have a problem or want to call and check on your pets in the middle of the night a nurse will be there to answer any questions you have. X-Ray
Dental Radiology
A complete dental examination, teeth cleaning, and dental x-rays cannot be performed on a dog or cat without anesthesia. Groomers or other organizations which claim to clean teeth on a pet that is awake do not clean between the teeth, under the gumline or take x-rays of the teeth. Not cleaning these areas will lead to chronic periodontal disease. This chronic infection under the gum line will lead to abscessed teeth and can harm the heart, kidneys and other vital organ systems. At Elm Point Animal Hospital we use the safest possible protocol, similar to what is used in human medicine. Your pet will be monitored throughout the procedure by both the doctor and our highly trained certified veterinary technicians.
Microchipping
Although tags and collars are important, they can tear or slip off. With microchipping, on the other hand, a veterinarian injects a tiny computer chip—about the size of a grain of rice—just under your pet’s skin, between the shoulder blades. A number on the microchip is entered into an international database, like the Central Animal Registry or PETtrac. If your dog or cat is found, any animal hospital, shelter, or humane society can use a microchip reader to read the unique ID number contained on the chip. The veterinarian or worker can access the database by inputting the number given off by the microchip. The chip can’t be lost or damaged, and it lasts for the pet’s lifetime. The microchip is convenient, safe, and reliable.

Boarding
To ensure the safety of our kennel attendants and other boarders, Elm Point Animal Hospital reserves the right to refuse boarding services to pets that might create dangerous situations. Dogs or cats with a history of biting or clawing will not be allowed to board at Elm Point. You are required to disclose any behavioral issues or problems of your pet at the time of check-in.

At Elm Point Animal Hospital, our groomers offer all standard grooming services for your cat or dog. From full haircuts to just a bath package we groom your pet according to your specific instructions. We have spa packages, shed treatments, and specialty services as part of our repertoire of options to help keep your pet happy, healthy, and looking fresh. Our main goal is to keep your pet comfortable during the grooming process and to have them get to know their groomer personally.
