This pizza place isn't famous - yet. If you're looking for an elegant ambience to impress your friends, this might not be the place. But if you just want a unique and delicious pizza -- yes, this is the place. My wife and I had something new -- the gyros pizza (yes, like the Greek meat) with a white sauce (owner's recommendation), and we were amazed. This is by far the best pizza I've had in a long time (and I probably eat a lot more pizza than I should). The crust was perfect; the sauce well balanced, the toppings were fresh and very generous. This pizza isn't baked on a conveyor belt, like so many; it's done right, in a brick oven, with a private recipe. To top it off (no pun intended), the prices are better than you'd pay for a comparative pizza (if you could find one) at a place like Round Table. And if you don't feel like pizza, you can try their unique burgers, their fried chicken, or an assortment of other foods, many with a Mediterranean flavor added. The service is fast and friendly. If you're looking for a great pizza -- and some you can't get elsewhere -- give Sun Pizza a try; you'll be happy!
Luigi's has been around for some 45 years. I have been going there for about 25 years. After living in NYC for 4 years in the 60's, one thing I learned is that NYC pizza is the real deal! I frequented Queens Pizzaria in Brooklyn Heights, which was NY Times number 1 rated pizza in NY...LOVED IT! They made a pastrami pizza to die for! WOW! Coming back to the Sacramento area in late 69, after a few years I resigned myself to the obvious...No pizza in Sacramento could touch a TRUE NYC PIZZA! I was wrong!!! Luigi's compares better than ANY pizza I had in NY! A friend of mine spent several weeks in NYC as well as Brooklyn a couple of years ago...He tried the best he could find.........He said NONE compared to Luigi's PERIOD!!! NOW we have Luigi's by the Slice downtown to marvel you with more of the best! Kudo's to Chelso for his world class PIZZA! My favorite is his unsurpassed PASTRAMI pizza........OH SO GOOD!!! TRY IT........YOU'LL LOVE IT!
I love everything about this place. They have old school wood paneling and bench seating around long tables for big groups. Great variety of beer on tap and a TV tuned in to sports so you can have "family time" but still keep an eye on the game. They even have a little play structure in the corner for the little ones to play on while you eat amazing pizza and sip ice cold beer. This place has a nice comfortable feel with great food. They have a spongy but crisp crust, zesty sauce, real cheese and high quality toppings. It is one of the few pizza places that still uses real toppings... real bell pepper, real mushrooms, etc. Wenelli's is more expensive than the typical chain... but it is worth it. They serve real food and have an army full of high school kids working to crank out pizza after pizza.
Our family's quest every Friday in search of Great Pizza in Sacramento has lead us to this quaint Pizza Parlor. We were personally greeted by it's long time owner, Luigi who was extremely welcoming. He made us feel right at home. We have the perspective of all ages from 8-68. We ordered both the thin and regular crust Pizza's and on scale from 1-10 (1being the worst and 10 being the best) PIZZA scores a 10. The toppings were awesome tasting and the Cheese was extremely cheesy. No wonder they've been in business over 45 years, GREAT JOB LUIGi!! The Rocha/Vasquez Family
We were there on a Sat. Night with a group of 10 without a reservation and the staff were very accommodating and got us all seated within 1/2 hour. I love the thin crust pizza. The ingredients stand out rather than all the pizza dough. The "Traditional" with fresh tomato, basil, garlic olive oil, and mozzarella and parmesan cheeses is superb. I can also recommend the tasty deep dish, Chicago-style pizza. Save room for the "Deep Dish Delight" - chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and whipped cream.
The Primavera Pizza Was Crazy Good!!! The pesto sauce pizza is something I thought I wouldn't like but loved it. My kids ordered pepperoni, and I thought that was going to be too plain for my taste but it was like no pepperoni pizza I have ever had before. I tried rating this a 4 1/2 but it wouldn't let me. And would have rated this a 5 but it was a tad bit pricey, and let me be specific" just a bit". But it's definitely worth trying.
Love this place for lunch or dinner! The servers are really great about recommending which pizzas will serve multiple people. Plus there are plenty of non-pizza items on the menu for anyone who wants a change of pace. They are great about accommodating larger parties (6-12 people) as well as small groups. They are located right between 2 nightclubs and there are cage dancers on Saturday nights, but this is really more of a restaurant.
I have been ordering pizza here for 10 years or more, I always gotten a great pizza (large all meat with olives and mushrooms) they will deliver or I can pick it up. The pizza is alway hot and very good. The pizza shop is very clean and can seat many people. They have good beer selection and soda too. There is a salad bar. and a large screen Tv for football night.
One Speed is an East Sac fav! They are farm to fork, their menu is always changing and the food is always fresh. The service is on point and the special board is always filled with mouth watering favorites. My personal favorite is their burger actually, but you can't go wrong with any of the pizzas - especially with Rick's Pie or the Garden Pizza with meat!
We order from here for office lunches quite often and their free bike delivery to the downtown grid is a bonus! The pizza is always hot and scrumptious. In the restaurant the service has lacked on more than one occasion, but it tends to be during the busiest of times (lunch, dinner). The Burratina Di Margherita is my #1 pick! Also the green beans appetizer.
